Just wondering why not. I shoot Beman MFX Classics and Easton FMJ's (9/32nd's diameter) and would like the ability to tune with heavier points.
I shoot the same arrows and use the 145 gr points. I would think that if they made them heavier, they might be too long as the 145's are fairly long already.
Why can't you use these? They would only leave a 1/64" overhang. You can put the field point in a drill and turn that little bit down with a file and lose only a couple grains.

Great Idea JimB ! Think I'll give that a try. I have plenty of 175, 200, 225gr field points for my old aluminum arrows I could bevel down on the back.
Thanks !
Another option is to use a 50-100 gr brass insert. Gives you a higher FOC and allows the use of the lighter tips.
I've used bigger field points and ground the back down to a bevel to match my mfxs.
Thanks stujay, I use the 75gr brass H.I.T. inserts.
I screw the heavier points onto an insert and then color the insert with a bright flt tip. I set that into the drill and I have jig that gets them flush and shave about half way up the point. Check to make sure your drill is running so you don't unscrew the point while filing. I take them down until they match my broadhead plus insert. however, on wood arrows I don't even shoot the same spine for target as I do broadheads and cut them net and when Iswitch to broadheads, out to thirty yards it only takes a couple of shots to zone in the aiming for the broadheads. I do it on other shafts mostly for spine control, I don't think it matters that much for aiming if the arrows fly right.
going really up in screw-in point weight with a 9/32" diameter makes for long and skinny points. not good. i prefer using 5/16" and 11/32" "ez pull" bullet screw-in points with boat tails.

Curious, but why is not good to have long and skinny points?
Theoretically they can put more torque on the threaded insert. I have even tapered down glue-ons on narrower one piece inserts for 1918 aluminum arrows and so far I cannot detect any bent inserts, but it can happen if you hit something like a knot in a tree truck.
Thanks for all the info and ideas everyone. :)

Those are the heads I use. Shooting 250 grain points on my MFX's with no problem.
With the exception of a scant few, anything over 175 is only available in the easy pull. They taper nicely and will work on any shaft.
No, they are not perfect, but it is what it is.
We still sell more 125g pts (4-1) than any other size, but the heavier points are gaining in popularity due largely to the use of carbon shafts and the need of extra weight on the tip.
I expect that one day, when there is enough demand to make it profitable, "some" of the other sizes (probably not the real heavy pts due to inevitably length needed to make weight) will be available in various diameters. For now, the easy pull will have to work.
