When Tandy's prices became ridiculous i started buying from Siegels of California but they closed up shop.
Any suggestions for another good supplier?
Thanks!
Lance
If you find one, let me know!
Tandy pretty much have a monopoly on repeatable quality, average priced leather these days.
You can occasionally luck out & buy on E8ay, but if you're after consistent price & quality, I'm afraid Tandy is the way to go.
Yep,,I use Leather factory/tandy
I would like to find someone that carries cordovan as Tandy does not. I just need enough to make a few tabs - it is impossible to find.
I deal with the Hide House, in Napa, CA and also with Kentucky Leather and Hide. Both have websites, good prices, and great products.
EC leather in Tulsa Oklahoma. It is more of a warehouse than a store front but they will sell to the public. They supply a lot of prisons their leather and also supply Tandy some of theirs. EC's and Tandy use to be owned by the same folks, way back when. I'm sure they have a 800 number but I don't know it so here is the local number 918.583.0292.
They don't have a website and the lady that's runs it is a blast if you can handle her ROUGH sense of humor.
I use Zack White Leather.
Google them.
I was in their shop about 6 months ago. One of the workers warned of higher leather prices. Something to do with the demand on cattle dropping.
speaking of leather...where do you guys get your patterns for quivers, arm guards, etc.? I'd like to start making some of my own equipment. Thanks fellers!

I live near a Tandy store, you can pay a yearly fee to join something and get a discount, in addition, they sent you monthly or quarterly brochure with current stuff on sale (hides). I don't do it anymore but I could go a sort through hides.
this is where I have been getting mine

Great store and been bying leather there for years. If your ever close to them swing in and see them you won't regreat it. Great prices and much cheaper then Tandy for the same leather.

Does a person want shell cordovan when making a tab, or just cordovan leather?
Patterns for those items....
Are in your head, look for them.
Thats where I found all of mine....
Keep it coming boys! Me & others want to know also. Thanks.
Thanks for all of the responces!!! I sure miss Siegels.... :goldtooth:
I've bought tools but not leather yet.

Tandy is handy for me and I don't use very much leather for the price to matter.
Brettuns Village is great for online orders, I think they have cordovan, or what they call "south-of-cordovan". Do you have any local harness or saddle-makers? I get mine from a Amish harness shop nearby. Great prices on Whole hides to just pieces. They sell by the pound and this is top quality stuff. Like stepping back in time to visit there.
I usually just go to a harness shop and they have lots of leather in different thickness. We have a lot of Amish in my area and they can make anything from quivers to knife sheaths, or pistol holsters.
I work in Springfield, MO so I visit Springfield Leather a lot. They are a great bunch of folks and are very helpful. However, I can get my leather cheaper, even with shipping, elsewhere. Kentucky Leather and Hide is good source for deer and elk leather. They have a website and a store on that online auction place we can't mention.
Thank you Darren! I have been wanting to make some buckskins and they have pretty darn good prices!!!
Lance
Thanks Rod for the web address. This is what I was looking for! Great info!
Kenny
If you can actually get cordovan you doing better than I, NEVER ANY& luck with the local Tandy store and never found any anywhere on the net.
Brettuns village.
this it?

It says they are north of the rear where true cordovan comes from so i would call them
And doesnt Alaska make their own cordovan glove tips? I would call them to see if they have a piece you could buy or at least tell you where they get it from
