Title: String making question
Post by: last arrow on January 30, 2012, 02:59:00 PM
When double serving a new string for nock fit does the thin serving go on first or the thick?  Or doesn't it matter.

Thanks in advance for your help.

I havent ever done that. I usually just wrap a little dental floss where I nock the arrow and put a little clear fingernail polish on it.

Serve the thin material first, then serve the thicker material in the opposite direction. This will keep it from digging in to the first layer

Don't know if it matters or not, but I always put the heavier (thicker) serving on last. I just feel it will stand up better on the wear and tear.,...Lloyd  :dunno:

I'd follow what A.S. said for his reason.

The only string I have ever double served I used the same diameter serving for the top and bottom layer for a proper nock fit.
