I should have done this a long time ago. Last summer Mike Yancey contacted me, a few months later I had a new Pine Hollow Longbow. This bow is 60" 60@28, Sinew backed Osage with some added flare from Mike. I tell you what Mike is an artist. The sinew is made to replicate the antlers of a big bull elk. Its a shooter too!!!!

Very nice Randy. Mike does amazing work!! Man we have got to get you some wood arrows to shoot out of that though :)
You know it does feel kinda funny shooting those. If Jack skinner sees this thread he will never let me live it down. ha ha
oh dang that is nice!!!!
Randy, Mike had one similar to that at KaZoo. That line of repeated dots seems to be a favorite of his. I second the woodies, maybe with self nocks and tied on feathers?
I wonder what he rubbed into that sinew to get the finish like that. It looks great!!
Very nice bow and a shooter to boot :)
Mike does make some amazing bows and yours is a fine example.
God bless,Mudd
WOW, that is really nice! Congrats and some fine shooting. :clapper:
Nice Randy!
Sweet bow!
I'm becoming quite partial to Osage bows and that's a beauty!
Jason
Might be some black walnut husks or brown shoe dye. I got a similar effect from wood ashes/only it was grey/black instead.
Nice bow and that Osage is only going to get better over time.
Very cool looking bow.
Yep, you need some woodies to send downrange. Does this mean that (gasp!) the Ferret is retired for next elk season?
that's a beauty, randy! yeah man, go make up some woodies and make yer new bow feel more at home. :D

I must be honest the Ferret will always be my GO TO bow. This will see some woods time though.
Very nice bow, and I like that rough look. If that brick wall is your backstop you better not miss or it could get expensive.
I sought out Mike this weekend at Kalamazoo. It was a pleasure to meet him and his wife. He had some cool bows in his booth. Can't wait to see the work they do on those Wyoming antelope this year.
Nice Bow! Great Shooting too! Just check those Carbons for cracks!
Nice!!!
Mike has taken more than a few critters with his. As as well as many other who shoot his bows. Just look at his web page.
I like the turquoise touch.
I thought I might be the lone ranger on that one....
My buddy gives me a piece for good luck for my bows.
Nice!
Randy, Randy, Randy I would love to give you crap about those carbons out of that beauty, but you know I shot carbon from a selfbow....ONCE, and killed something to boot. I got to see that bow what craftmanship, I love the way Mike does his sinew.
Anytime you wanna meet up Jack.
Great bow. I had the chance to shoot a few of his bows this past weekend in Kzoo. Beauty meets function. I would love to take his 1:1 class.
Yeah I bet that bow will see some woods time. That thing screams "hunt'n bow" and will probably drag you into the woods by itself if she doesnt get enough scenery.
Love it. Sinew backed osage has always been my favorite "self" bow.
Mike will be at our festival this weekend in Missouri and I am looking forward to playing with his toys. He has donated a beautiful bow for the auction.
Thats an awesome selfbow bud, that thing is serious! Best of luck with it :campfire:
I tell you what the more I shoot this the more fun it is.
Now THAT is an awesome bow!
Thats awesome pal, the next time you see me I may be toting something along those lines myself.
Get some blood on it and you will be really messed up! Good to se you shooting it, selfbows do take some getting to know.
I am working on a new sinew backed one for me that I will be using in Wyoming and Kansas in April for turkeys.
Mike
Mike, you planning to attend ojam again?
We will be there Monday or Tuesday and stay the whole week.
Mike
For you folks that haven't seen Mike Yancey's work, ya'll need to head south for the Pre-Spring Arrow Fling, hosted by the Compton Traditional Bowmen & Allsouth Archery Association.
It looks like it's gonna be a good one.

I got to shoot one of Mike's works of art on Saturday morning. It was a little heavy for me but I got er done. Amazing! Shoots as good as it looks.
I just got one from Mike about a month ago,,, I'll have to post some pictures of it... Tried not to shootit to much during hunting season because I didn't want to screw my self up but now it's my baby all spring ;)
58 inch Osage self bow 50# at 27 inches.

Very Cool!!! Thanks for sharing!! I've been a fan of Mr. Y's for quite some time...viewing his works in PAM...
