Started out just as first light was pushing away the dark of night. I hear coyotes near by and then....... something just got killed! I could hear the coyotes wailing and some thing else screaming for a few seconds, then silence. About 10 minutes later a few deer scrambled by me in the dim light Too dark yet for a shot. Just after light I meet up with my hunting buddy.

We go to find some lost arrows from last weeks stumping in the snow. Now the snow is gone and the arrows are quickly found.
Time for some more stumping, exploring and adventure.

We took a long walk up the mountain, across the top, and then down a draw on the far end. As we descend, we traverse from federal land into state land, but not before we stalk a couple dozen horny squirrels all piled up in one big oak. I got my arrow stuck up in the tree but was able to knock it down after an hour of throwing a stick up at it.
Entering stateland

leaving Federal land.

Then we swing back toward the house.
Looks like a fine day out!
When you say Federal land is it National Wildlife Refuge?
why are you saying last day? Is your zone done? Mine is open till Feb 18th.
Nice!
Cool Day Afield!
Bowhunterdave, yes my zone is done. I know I could go to another zone, but I have hunted a lot since Sept. and I'm starting classes this coming week. So, I had a great season and now I'm done.
No, it is not a wildlife refuge. It is land owned by the National park service for public use. Delaware valley National Recreation area. Over 69,000 acres of land stretched across 27 miles.
