Title: GT arrows ?
Post by: daniel boon on January 28, 2012, 09:01:00 AM
Has anyone else found variations in these arrows?
I was bare shafting with some GT 55-75 Expedition Hunters (black) 3 shafts- same length, insert, point, even weighd them, and spin tested them, all three within 1gr.
2 of them showing slightly weak (how I like them)
1 showing way stiff (consistently) took 30gr to show weak the same as the other 2.
So I put that one away, and got another one from the same batch,-perfect, 3 arrows flying the same.
Have had the same thing happen to me before, with the same arrows,in 35-55 GT's
Fletched they seem to shoot fine, but Bare Shaft is a heap of difference
Anyone else had the same thing??? or do you check the spine on  every shaft??

Yes, but then most carbons I have tried have similar issues.

Had the same issue. Went back to wood and aluminum.

Had a friend send me a 13/55 to try. I have 35/55's. On a lark, I put it on my spine tester. Spined 5 lbs heavier than it should have.

Story goes that when GT was made in MX, there was a run that got mis-labeled... some could still be in the pipeline, but wouldn't seem to explain why a mixed bag in a doz?!

Then again, I bought a 6pack of brand name skivvies once and 4 of them fit perfect, 2 were at least 2 sizes too small.

Things happen when they do a "change over" in production runs with sizes...   :scared:    :knothead:

I don't think that they are mislabeled, not enough difference in them, 30gr extra tip weight to make them behave.I would think that the next spine range would take a lot more weight.
Must be just a few "BUM" arrows now and then.

30g is insignificant to see a change. Normally would take 50+ to see big difference and more like 100g. Check to see if they are cut exactly the same length. 1/4" difference in length will make a lot more difference than 30g pt weight.

The shafts are all the same length, they weigh the same on my scale, straight, and connot tell the difference in fletched arrows.
Only with BARE SHAFTS,one was consistently showing way stiff, that is every shot, added 30gr and it grouped with the other 2.
the shaft in ? was the same every time, when replaced, had no problems.
Had this happen previously with some 35-55's
(at 30m the flight was way stiff, and the impact of the arrow was consistently 6"-10"left)
