Post by: 2 Barrels on January 27, 2012, 01:12:00 PM
Hi, I have a bear takedown bow.The heaviest arrow i can get good flight from this bow is 8.5gr per pound. Is this to light for these older bow's?I'm useing a 15 strand B50 string. And the limbs are a set of red tip's.Thank's for your input on this subject. Jim

It's only 46# Rob.I just dont want to damage my limbs.I did put limb savers and a strap on quiver on hopeing they would absorb some of the extra energy. Thanks,Jim

I don't know what arrow, material wise, you're shooting. Have you tried shooting aluminum arrows?

I would think 8.5 is OK, old bow or new. It is odd that weight is affecting your arrow flight? What happens when you shoot heavier-like 10-11 GPP?

All i have is carbon shafting.Everything from 600 to 300 spine. The .500 are flying the best with a 50gr. insert and 125gr. point.
