I need all you CENTAUR shooters to answer one question about CENTAUR longbows.
If there was one thing you could change about a Centaur longbow what would it be?
Jim is in the process of finishing up a VERY special and never before made CENTAUR longbow. Jim had a very great idea and he ran with it to build me the BEST shooting CENTAUR to date. Jim is going to have to hire an answering service for the calls he going to get about this "NEW CENTAUR OPTION"
I better give him a call right away and see what this is all about.
Killdeer :saywhat:
I just got off the phone with him. We talked for almost 3 hours !!! What a great guy !!! :D
Jake did you get it in my weight range. I need to talk with you. tom
Did he tell you about the secret bow? If everyone calls him and talks for 3 hours I'm never gonna get my new bow. The sooner he gets my bow done the sooner everyone gets to see pics and believe me you'll want to see pics.

The one thing I can tell you for sure is I'm gonna have quite a few bows for sale once I get this new CENTAUR. I'm not gonna have a need for another bow.
I wouldn't change a thing about mine and it's a glass model. Only thing he doesn't have now that he used to have is a two piece.
Jim hired me to take the pics. I hope it doesn't interfere with my fall hunt, or the bow will have to wait in the shop until I get back.
Killdeer :goldtooth:
Crash, I think you got it, like a bolt from the blue.
Killdeer :archer:
sorry comber, but he couldn't possibly be building you the best shooting centaur to date, because I've owned that one for over a year now
:readit: :bigsmyl:
I saw the rough bow Friday and can say Im anxious to see the finished bow. With all the calls though I think it might be done sometime around turkey season? lol
Jim is killing me right now with texting me pics of busted nocks and telling me he's going to keep my bow until he's done building his with the "NEW OPTION".
Alright people, I own three and now I want the new option and I don't even know what it is. I thought I was the only one Jim talked to on the phone that long, I see no special treatment for me. I'm not special anymore. Please tell me so I don't have to bother him.
All I gotta say is....if it shoots any better than the two I have, it will be a very special bow indeed!
Jake,
Since inquiring minds want to know :saywhat: Is this new option to increase accuracy and does it have any effect on performance?
Offering a two piece Centaur, say 58" ?????
He may never get to hunt again! Lol
John, believe it or not both accuracy and performance.
My bow is literally next in being made, right after yours is done so could you please tell me what this special option is so I can have it implemented lol.
Ok Jake i'm hooked :banghead: you must play catch and release or i'm going to be fried!
Is someone trying reinvent the wheel or something?

With Jim and his longbow, I would say yes, he is always trying to make that wheel faster, smoother, quieter, more durable etc.......
More durable, quieter and most likely slightly faster. What Jim has done is amazing. He said my bow will be shipped Wednesday so pics should be up Saturday.

Can't wait to see your pictures !!!
Bill
Jim built me a 60" Triple Carbon Elite last month. Action Bamboo & Locust limbs with the XLT layer. Charcoal Sky Dymalux riser. 48 @ 28 60". Shoots great and very quite. Cannot imagine any way to improve it. Whats the secret option ??
Jim's has came up with a name for the new-option. It will be called DARK MATTER. This will be a riser option. I have always told Jim the only complaint I've heard about his bows were that they were too light in the hand. DARK MATTER takes care of this issue. DARK MATTER is a proprietary material that gives his slim little longbows the weight of a 3pc. The DARK MATTER also has almost no deflection therefore adding to the speed and quietness of the bow. This will be a must have for the person wanting the best performing and most indestructible bow out there. The DARK MATTER will be a $200 option which still keeps his bows cost less than other carbon one piece bows out there.
Can't wait to see it!
Both encouraging and wonderful news!!
Jim and I have had several conversations over the last several months regarding significantly increasing mass wt. Appears he will not have to endure my pestering any longer.
Looking forward to reading about your experience with her.
Congrats to both you and Jim!!!
Beautiful bow jake! Got to see bow soon before it headed to the spray booth. A real heavyweight for its size.
Oh yeah Jim, now you come out with it. After I begged for an all black bow and we had to search for Ebony dymondwood. Sounds like an awesome bow, can't wait to order one. I guess I need to get on the list again.

:scared: ;)
Jim asked me if I wanted to put it on my bow which has just been glued up but I actually like a lighter riser, but who knows maybe in the future.
I personally like the lightweight of his bows! Would be nice to try one though!
Will be looking forward to pics on Saturday and hopefully, your review once you two become well acquainted and you are well beyond 'new bow syndrome'.
My guess is that the longer bows will become more popular,

it's Saturday!!!
my bow will be ready in march always used 21st century bows pretty lite, used harrison 2piece first had metal, very heavy, then composite which was just right. any opinions on what to order i am leaning toward dark matter and triple carbon. thanks for any input i know decision will be mine thanks stan
Seen a pic of the new Dark matter riser Very nice!!
Dan, give us some more details, while we wait for Jake to get some pic's.
well Sure Jim will not mind me posting here beings how he sent me the pic a taste until Jake posts more!. 23% heavier than Dymondwood he says. Good mass, Now I have to have one!!

of the many Centaur grip photos ive seen, I like the shape on that one the best... and the dark matter looks like it sounds!
Extremely tempting offering!!!!
Comber, Would you care to share some detals with regard to your experience with her?
Is the "Dark Matter" a type of wood formulation? Can't tell by the picture.
Its not wood, dymondwood, or micarta.
Jake, I'd like first dibs on her, if the relationship doesn't work out..! Jr.
Thermoplastic/carbon, resin reinforced/impregnated. That's my guess.
The grip looks fantastic on that bow!
Oh Jake where are you?
Tic Toc, Tic Toc, Thought I would bring this back from the graveyard of the 5th page and see if Jake is ALIVE.
Thanks, I was wondering where this one went!!! Update PLEASE!!!!!!!
Did not call Jim but sent email, still no plans on 2 piece take down. He's killing me.
ALDO
Oh come on guys, just take a bandsaw to those Centaurs and make your own takedown. :goldtooth:
I have one, but Jake pretty much sums it up on page one here. I like the added weight, more stable bow for me.
Pic's will make the hoard go away :readit:

John, I do like your persistance...
Aldo, if Jim would make a two pcs with the lock-it sock-it system like BW and Big Jim does, that bow would be the bomb!
Pics are coming, be patient grasshopper :bigsmyl: :archer:
Larry and David,
As for the second post on the "Hoards" i have no clue how that was posted? I wasn't even at the house or on the computer during that time :scared: David this may be an omen really weird.
Great looking Bow..
I have ordered one already, Dark Matter as well, but still haven't made up my mind on what wood to choose for the limbs though..
Jim is a great Guy with exceptional craftsmanship..
