Do you guys have a formula or set of rules you use to select carbon shaft size for your bow?
I read 9-10 grains per pound of draw weight, but then arrow recommendations usually seem to go below this formula and manufactures charts. This is confusing me.

I like a really heavy arrow and I draw somewhere between 60 and 65 lbs(55# @28" I draw 31+") :readit: With that said, I shoot an arrow which has 365 grains of weight on the front end and another 350 grains or so from the shaft itself. Add in the extra weight from fletching and glue...and my arrow is nearing 730-740 grains at 60-65 lb draw weight. :jumper: Not exactly scientific I know, but it works for me. :dunno: (p.s. Welcome!)
I am shooting around 53-55 lbs and a 31" arrow. The arrow weighs around 305-310 grains without any type of point and has a .400 spine. Should I play with different weight heads? I was gonna start with 125 grain points.
What is your draw length? Bow type,string type?
String is a dacron B-50 flemish, the bow is a takedown recurve, and draw is 29". Thanks.
Try different point weights up to 250. You can trim up to an inch off your arrows also if you need to stiffen them. If they are still too weak try a stiffer arrow, .340 or .300.
