i've got a sxt with carbon foam recurve limbs.any advice on getting it super quiet?
SXT? Bowhush and bow puppies. Beaver silencers worked well on mine also.
Mine is very quiet for a recurve using an SBD string with yarn puffs and the yarn wraps on the ends.
yep.sxt.i edited my post.that's what i have on it right now.maybe i'm just not used to the carbon and foam.
Play with the brace height. The Zippers I have shot were very quiet for a recurve. If that fails, do what LimBender said
i just ordered an sbd string.i'll keep playing with it.thanks for the help fellas
heavy arrows!
I have an sxt with the foam and carbon and mine was pretty darn quiet with just some cat whiskers placed in the optimal spots on the string - about 1/3rd. I added an sbd string with the recurve wraps and now you can barely here it. I also use a fairly heavy arrow, around ~600 grns.
My Zipper SXT w/ carbon and foam is very quiet with string wraps and puffs on the string.

In my experience (not with the Zipper recurve limbs) the carbon doesn't cause a distinct noise, but the foam cores on EVERY bow that I have ever shot have a very distinct "tink" sound. I don't know how far it travels but when I am shooting one......it is very noticable to me.
Winterhawk1960
that's the noise i'm hearing.not loud,just different.
Jesse, there must be something terribly wrong with that bow. Send it to me, and I will check it out for you! :bigsmyl: :archer:
Bowhush on string loops and as silencers and heavy arrows.
Sell it and buy a longbow...sorry, I had to!!
All that I have on my SXT are the puffs on the string. It is deadly quiet! This years proof :bigsmyl:

Nice pics! Love the bow and hogs!
I find my SXT quiter than all the other recurves I own,and they are a lot!
The main reason if you hear some noise can be an overspined arrow, otherwise mine is very silent also without string silencers!
I've always used W-D-40 on noisy zippers myself.
Only time I had a noise problem with a Zipper was when I used a B50 string on it, switching to a D97 string made a huge difference.
:biglaugh: Good one Kirk!
If you are hearing a tink sound it is likely arrow contact. Make sure your arrow spine is ok and also that your nock set is not too low.
Your bow came with an 8 strad D97 string. They like that D97 and D10.

Sorry bout that Bill, i couldn't resist.
Back on subject... Doesn't string noise generally relate to getting the recommended brace height too low? I've noticed that on my bows sometimes. Sometimes the lower poundage bows need a wee bit more brace height to quiet things down.
Just a thought.... Kirk
I agree....brace can make a big difference. I like like mine a bit higher than some!
The best thing I ever did was order a string from one of our sponsors here.

Allen was a great guy to deal with and have turned my bows whisper quiet.
