seems that the last few years there has been talk of not being allowed to bring in your own arrows for safety reasons
which i totally understand
so the question is .
what would be the prefered method for carrying in arrows to eliminate the possibility of harming anyone
i persoanlly like to keep them bundled together with a rubber band and in my hand
or stuck in my back pocket with my jacket over them till im ready to test fire a bow
thanks in advance
kevin
Kevin, that is what I have done is rubber banded them and held them or into my back pocket quiver.
I am a first timer to Kzoo. I am hoping to shoot some bows for the first time. Will there be arrows there for me to use while I test out a bow?
Christopher, I have found that most of the bowyers do have arrows available to use for their bows and some even like you to use their arrows specifically with their bows. The 1st year I went (2010) I was just getting into archery and came without arrows, seems every bowyer had arrows to lend me. Last year I brought 3 arrows of my own into the expo without problems.
I have not heard that and did not see it mentioned in any dealer materials.
Call Great Northern and see what they say. I just tried but they were closed.
The place gets crowded with lots of bodies close together. The safety issue is poking a nearby attendee in the face with your arrows if you have them in a back quiver. Even a hip quiver can cause problems with arrows poking into other folks nearby. Never been a problem if you show you can carry your arrows in a way that they won't be a danger to others.
That being said, most vendors would rather you shoot their arrows. I used to bring my own, but just shoot the vendors' arrows now. Much less hassle.
99% of the bowyers will have arrows for you to shoot with their bows. It benefits them to set you up right. That way you can truly see how their bows perform. It wouldn't be smart on their behalf to let people shoot a bunch of mismatched arrows and walk away unhappy with the bow. Not good business. :readit:
Make sure you take your tab or glove, but a number of bowyers will have those for you to use as well.
I've seen some very close calls with arrows hanging out of a quiver or pocket and the owner was unaware of where they were poking. I would advise caution, especially due to the crowds.
The new room they have built at the fair grounds will help with crowd control. Always good to use caution and coutesy.
I spoke with Jerry today, not about arrows, and he is excited about the new diggs.

Even if your carrying the bowyers arrows and standing in line, there will be some hazard. If you have your own arrows you don't have to wait for the bowyers arrows to come back from the test range, and if you have arrows for a certain draw weight of bows, it is the best way for you to see how the bow shoots compared to other. By the way, shouldn't this be on the trad events forum? :D
