Tuesday was the first chance i have had to give the Waldrop pack seat a try so i headed to one of my old stomping grounds on a Mississippi island i had left one of my old folding seats down there an i need to retrieve it so i put one of my favorite fanny packs on the pac seat an off i went.. (http://i1084.photobucket.com/albums/j411/scottlangston1/P1000620.jpg) its hard to believe its been over 33 years sense i trapped muskrats off of this island i used to paddle my canoe across the main slough to check my traps this beaver dam has been here quit a while (http://i1084.photobucket.com/albums/j411/scottlangston1/P1000623.jpg)just thought this would make a good picture to look back on some day. (http://i1084.photobucket.com/albums/j411/scottlangston1/P1000629.jpg) the islands are very hard to stalk on the floor is covered with dead branches an downed trees from the many years of being underwater when the river is high. (http://i1084.photobucket.com/albums/j411/scottlangston1/P1000628.jpg) the ducks are finding the open water to swim in as the sun rises i wish you could have heard them there had to be a couple hundred on the main slough (http://i1084.photobucket.com/albums/j411/scottlangston1/P1000630.jpg) it looks like a older scrape from November or so in one of the few more open areas on the island that are hard to come by. (http://i1084.photobucket.com/albums/j411/scottlangston1/P1000634.jpg) ive been walking awhile now so its time to take my pac seat off my back an take a short rest eat some jerky an have a drink of water..i have heard some comments that it looks like the seat is to close to the ground.it does look that way but i have to tell you..its VERY comfortable an i can get right up out of it really easy an shoot my 64" longbow with no problem i had 4 or 5 inches of lower limb clearance while shooting at a few stumps..but just about the time i was getting up i heard something coming.. i will post more pictures a little later... :wavey:
ooooooh........i love riverbottoms. nice picks.
:campfire: :archer:
Why do people do this to us?? :nono:
I love the seat, have two of 'em. Cool pics! BTW, what kind of bow is that? Whatever it is...it's sharp!!
Jason
2 pc Griffin..
i can here it comeing from the south louder an louder i can see some movement through the tree limbs (http://i1084.photobucket.com/albums/j411/scottlangston1/P1000631.jpg) snow geese by the thousands they must have flew over for 15 mins an tried bombing me i could see the splashes in the slough but lucky there were no direct hits..so i picked up my pac seat an started to continue my trip when over to the east about 100 yards i see this.. (http://i1084.photobucket.com/albums/j411/scottlangston1/P1000638.jpg) (http://i1084.photobucket.com/albums/j411/scottlangston1/P1000636.jpg) i have to say i have never seen a beaver make a hut out of a broken off hollow silver maple he piled sticks all over the top an was using the hollow log for his hut its hard to see with the sun in the background but it was really interesting seeing how he came in next to the stump an entered the log..now that the river is down he has left the hut for now.. (http://i1084.photobucket.com/albums/j411/scottlangston1/P1000639.jpg) ok.. i have hunted in tree stands many times but the feller that hunts in this stand has to be an iron worker!!! this stand is at least 35 feet i hope he wears a harness. (http://i1084.photobucket.com/albums/j411/scottlangston1/P1000641.jpg) so i finally make it to my folding chair an strap it on my pac seat im telling you with the sholder straps an the waist belt you don't even know the extra's are on there..i have to say thank you to David Waldrop the best seat i have ever had..thank you..an thanks for going with me im not much of a story teller but it was fun... :archer:
Thanks for sharing your day...those pics are really cool...
I bet it is confortable for you. Do you feet even touch the ground
p.s. Bring it Sunday
Very nice! :campfire:
Great pics. That seat seems to be just what I need for ground hunts!
Gray Buffalo be warned if you sit in it you'll have to have one.
It is by far "hands down" the very best hunting seat I have ever used.
Fore warned is fore armed...lol
God bless,Mudd
Great pics! May have to try out one of those chairs.
Eric
Nice thread. Great looking area, river bottoms are fascinating. Never the same place from one year to the next.
Thanks for sharing ,that was a cool little trip.
Brings back memories of those islands.
I have the seat too and love it. I did add about a 1 1/2 inch thick home made cushion. Gives me just a little more ground clearance for my old knees to lift this big body up.
Ron
GREAT PICS  Thanks for sharing :coffee:
Thanks for taking us with ya!
wow grey buff..you have never hit me with a short joke before..but it says in the directions ugly people can use it too..so you can borrow it anytime :biglaugh:
I resemble that remark. Dad always said I would have to seek up on a glass to get a drink of water.
Thanks for taking us along on your walk, cool looking area. I'm going to have to get one of those seats before next season.
Sticbow, I was turned on to Waldrop seat by Monkeyball and it was everything he said it was, light, very comfortable and quiet. He told me to use some pipe insulation to keep it as quiet as possible.Use some pull ties. Really like the mobility it gives compared to treestand hunting. Thanx for taking us on your walk.

Thanks it was a great hike..i have to say the seat is even better than i was hopeing.i have an idea i want to try with the seat i will post pictures when i get it done.im sure the big snow will show up here sooner or later an i will have some shop time...Scott
Scott, Does that seat have a weight limit . As you know I'm a little chunky and have been known to break some hunting seats. So for the only one I haven't destroyed is the DB magnum and it bad on my knees. To low. If your coming out Sunday please bring it with you.
I'll bring it Sunday...i think the Huntmore seat might be better for you..it's a little taller an has a 300 weight "but i sure it would hold more" :scared:
only thing about the Huntmore is it doesn't carry like a backpack.
GB you aren't much if any larger than me and I've used mine all season without any issues.
I do put a cushion in the bottom of mine just for added comfort.... I sleep better with the cushion in..lol
God bless,Mudd
Mudd..you need to come out to Bush Wildlife i would like to meet you...
Looks like a nice time, thanks for sharing.

I like the back pack idea but I want to see if it fits this chuncky body.
Mudd. The doctor put me on a weight loss plan. he said 350 was to much :dunno:
I's sure consider making the trip if it weren't on Sunday mornings but I have commitments to my church.
God bless,Mudd
I always enjoy post with pictures
Thanks for sharing! I enjoyed it. That beaver hut was neat!
