These are footed shafts from Ted Fry and the fletching is from Magnus, this is my first attempt at self nocks. Made a couple mistakes but I think they turned out OK. Sorry but the flash on my camera is broken.

hoe did you get the swirl paint as cresting without diping?
Thank you for the compliments folks, not my best work but when does anyone get it right the first time? I haven't made woodies for about 6 years or so. I thought it was like falling of a bike but I realize am a little rusty and forgot a few simple details that make them come out nicer. Plus am just getting around to trying out my new Spinrite crestor. I always enjoy making them though and am stuck in a hotel with bad weather so it was an easy decision to stay inside today instead of working and drink beer and make arrows.

There are a few threads on it here, that's how I learned. I have a dozen or so that didn't turn out very well or consistent. It is pretty simple though once you figure it out. Get some Testers hobby/model paint thin it at about 1 part thinner to 4 parts paint with some thinner or acetone then put some drops in the water and swirl the drops with a tooth pick or something like that and slowly dip the shaft while swirling it though the paint, it takes awhile to figure out the effects and amount of paint needed and how thin to have the paint. I ended up gluing two Big Gulp cups together for this cause am in a hotel right now but am thinking a 2"-3" X 18" PCV pipe would be perfect for the this.(you need a little surface area to play with the paint)It's basically like doing Easter eggs. I played with water based acrylics and they didn't work at all.

Towards the end of the second dozen I did..Thx.
;)
I have some more am working on now where the marbling came out better. I'll post them when am done.

They are dipped. I just taped off the area that I wanted White(actually Almond) and spray painted them, when dry a couple coats of "Wipe on Poly" then tape off again where only the white is exposed then dip in the marbling. Let that dry and then more "Wipe on Poly" and then crest as normal.
Wow! I love those colors.
Sweet arrows!
Very....very nice!

Thx again.
Here are some others I was playing with. Making a few Flu Flu's to hopefully go on a pheasant hunt with Clark Broadheads in the near future.
