I shot this swan with my recurve. Tundra Swan are on a draw system here in NC. It was a lot of fun. The goose thread reminded me of it.

Outstanding trophy!!!!
I bet there aren't many people that can say they've done that with a bow. Was it in flight when You made the shot?
Looks like You've got a good helper there with You. Congrats
bretto
Awesome!
AWEEESOME  We've had a few winter here on Lake James but I've never drawn a permit :archer:
Great job!

Yeah, It was in flight, but not real far away. It was around 15 yards. I missed the first 7 shots and got lucky on my 8th shot. That is my son. He looks like a tub in the picture, but I had him bundled up good. It was cold that day.
Can you repost the pic smaller so we can see it?
Man i wish we could hunt them up here, they are every where in the spring and fall!! How do they taste!

It is dark meat but Good!
Great shooting!! I have always wanted to shoot something on the wing, so far no luck.
Thats cool! Funny I seen Brooks Johnson shooting them on Arrow Affliction. Looks like fun!

K-A!
A group of PBS members used to do Tundra Swan hunts in NC with bows. I think Cory Mattson was the master mind behind organizing the groups. JoeBuck I know has shot at least one. That is one hunt I wish I would have join in on when they were doing them (maybe mid-late 90's?).
Thanks for sharing!
Peserverence brought home this special trophy.
Congrats!!
That is too cool! I didn't even know you could hunt those things...
Very cool congrats
Nice! Good job taking your son.
That's awesome.

Thats a fine trophy, congrats. Not very common up here but I did see a pair of adults and two juveniles up here this past deer season.
congrats, very cool
That's something that I'd like to try some time. Looks like a lot of fun. Congrats!
Is there any potential to use the feathers for fletching? It would be interesting to use the feathers for the next hunt.
Cool! What does swan taste like...? I was nervous to eat goose after what I had heard but they were pretty good.
That's some awesome shooting man! Congrats on a great trophy. I assume from your screen name that you're from Buxton. I love visiting down there. Planning to head back that way in July.
Niceeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!
That's quite the trophy.
I've shot a few with my shotgun but haven't tried it yet with my bow. Did you decoy them?

We pass shot them. They were flying down the v ditch real low and were landing in a wheat field about a mile behind us. We were in the flight path and had enough decoys out to get them to take a look. The shotgun guys knocked theirs out right away, and then laughed at me and another fellow bowhunter fling arrows. It was real cool.
That is great,good job.
Cool!
cool trophy!

Ah, I see it now.
Watching the A/Affliction show right now with Brooks hunting with a recurve. What kind of arrows and heads?
That's awesome..congrats on some fine shooting!
I'd luv to...no,no check that...I WILL try that some day!!
That is OUTSTANDING!! Congrats!
Nice trophy, congrats!
We can shoot one/year in North Dakota if we draw a permit.
I've taken several with a shotgun but have been reluctant to use my bow... concerned about control of shot placement and the possibility of leaving a swan flying around with an arrow in it.
I'm glad to see it worked out well for you! Congratulations!
