Wondering how many Elburg lovers are out there and if anyone could post pics? I have a Jaguar Special I shot a big Ohio 8 pt with last year and I talked to Adam proctor the other day as soon as I get the money saved up I am going to order a 60" Jaguar probably 50@30. Anyone else hunt with Elburgs or Risen Son (Elburgs successor) bows?
-
Love them! I only have a 50" Mite currently. I am waiting for the right Jaguar Special to show up to add to my collection, hoping for a two piece. Wonderful bows.
-
Mine are all "D" style. 3 Condors and one Condor Elite, 65 lbs., 66 lbs, 69 lbs. and 65 lbs. It is a shame Harry retired but he earned it.
-
Yep... Gotta few...
Condor 66" 59@28
Cougar 60" 54@28
Mite 54" 54@27
Jaguar Special 60" 54@28
Jaguar Special 60" 58@28
Jaguar Special 60" 71@28
Jaguar Special 64" [email protected]
And always looking for a 48" and 50" Jaguar Mites...

Jon, we had a new guy at the shot this past Saturday who was shooting a 64# Cheetah. I drew it and would better guess it's closer to 60 but anyway, he wants to sell it in case you know anyone wanting one. I'd have bought it but too darn heavy for me. I bought instead a Dan Quillian Bamboo Longhunter fro Nail. Nice bow.
-
I have a few also. I will be selling some that are now too heavy for me. They are Jaguar Magnums and Cherokees. Mostly around 60-62 lbs @ 28". I had a good talk with Harry and his wife around Christmas. He is doing well. He is spending his free time oil painting which he has not done for many years. He was asked to show his paintings at one of the galleries in Madison. I may be going to visit him this weekend. If I remember I will bring my camera and take some pictures.
God bless,
José

I would love to see some of harrys oil paintings!

Ironic that this post just came up, as I just yesterday recieved payment for the 55#@27" Cheetah Recurve I just sold.... It was an awesome bow, but at my 28 1/2" draw length and "bum" elbow it has become more wt. than I shoot anymore.

Adam Proctor lives about 12 miles from me. "Salt of the earth" kinda guy. He let me shoot a nice little 50" Mite a couple years ago. I was very impressed. I liked it as much as my beloved Super Shrew (that says a lot).
A 50" 2pc Kentucky coffee tree/action-boo is on my short list of future bows. I'd have one on order by now but I came across a 71#@26" osage/triple carbon foam Morrison Shawnee at a price I had to jump on.
RMS usually has a few Elburgs listed in their used bow inventory if anybody's looking. Think I saw a couple of Condors on there, and a Jaguar the other day if I'm not mistaken.
-
nobody has any cherokee mag's,,,, I want one I want one 48-55# I want one I want one!! hey twig any of those forsale?
-
Not really Ted...
Had a Cherokee a couple years ago that I traded for the first Jaguar Special... I'd been looking for several years for one and couldn't pass it up...
We have some Elburg fans in our local club... I'll keep my eyes open for a Cherokee Mag in those specs...
If you don't mind send me a PM so I can save it to remind me occasionally when I get another PM about who is looking...

We have some GREAT bowyers today...
But...a preacher buddy of mine was given a parishoner's Elburgs by the widow for my friend's kindness to her husband.
When I could shoot 54#, I shot a Jaguar marked 67#... it felt stout, but like Flittim said, it felt a LOT lighter...
Mr. Elburg could build a bow! Shot several since far beyond my draw but they were smooth and sweet and never felt like the poundage marked...
Oh, yeah...we've checked a couple of them on varied scales...right on the marked weight...just a great design or better fabrication!
-
Adam proctor told me I could shoot my 54" jaguar mite at my 30 inch draw no problem, only problem is I gave it to my 15 year old stepson. Oh well, he treasures it but boy I wAnt it back. B

Could one of you guys get me Adams contact info, I would really like to talk to him sometime?

These are my primary hunting bows. The Express is my first Elberg and the Magnum I got from Adam right after he started building.

Another look at the Magnum.

I have lived in Indiana for 53 years and did not learn about Elburg bows until after he quit making them. It is my understanding that Adam Proctor has picked up his business but I googled him and did not find a website. There is a phone number on the net, I believe. A road trip might be in order if he is still active.
-
Adam goes by "Risen Son Archery". I think to clarify, as I know it, Adam worked under Harry's guidance for a period, learning how Harry made bows. Harry's business never sold, he just quit making glass bows. He has said he would like to make a few all wood bows in the future, but he's retired and he can do what he wants. Painting sounds nice.He shows up at our club now and then(he's only less than 10 miles from us)and sometimes brings some broadheads he forgot he had and sells them.Or files. He had a whole box of files one time.Neat guy.

Here's what I found Steve
(270) 927-0427
I can't imagine in this day and age not having a website but it appears he does not.
-
he never did,, I don't even think he had any brochures.. I've collected traditional archery brochures since the late 80's and I remember calling harry and he said his bows all sold by word of mouth and he prefered people to call him and tell him what they wanted for woods, weights, lengths, ect.
so I bought the cherokee magnum and regret selling it but it was short and I wasn't ready for a short bow yet.
-
No, I meant Adam Proctor (Risen Son) did not have a website. Harry had quit making bows about the same time the 'Net was really getting a start.
-
I'm a big fan of my Cheetah. 68 at 28. It flat out flings an arrow.

Steve,
Your 62" Magnum has a different profile than any I've seen... it looks more like a speciall proflie to me...
The Jaguar Mag you have that was mine had a more D shape profile... interesting...
Jonathan
PS Harry did have a brochure at one time... A friend sent a copy to me a couple of years ago... He did advertise in Traditional Bowhunter early as well... but most of his stuff was word of mouth... and then he was often 1.5 to 2 years behind...
-
I have a jaguar special, 64inch. What is the diffrence between the Jaguar special , Magnum and Express?
-
"Specials" are more radical reflex/deflex... when strung shows the hybrid profile more...
"Express" is a little less radical and shows in the strung profile also... not hybrid, but not D profile... the limb is for lack of better terms "straighter when strung"
"Magnum" is even less and strung up has more of a D bow profile...
Jonathan
PS At least that was with Harry's bows...
Steve's magnum shown up above has more of the hybrid profile and if I'm not mistaken that's one of Adam's bows...
-
Your right Jon, Adam has a more hybrid profile on the magnum than Harry but still not as much as the Special.
-
Harry had a couple of early brouchures.

I know this is an old post....but a good place to mention I have a Jaguar and a Cherokee, both mint [email protected]

Have a Jaguar Special and it's a fast and fine shooting bow. It was made by Harry and while I prefer the grip on my shrews which has caused me to consider selling it every time I do I can't help but think "Harry Elburg isn't make them anymore". I'm not really a collector of bows but it's a thought that I get when it comes to this one and it isn't really a sentimental bow in my collection.
