Anybody already dreaming bout Spring gobblers.I`ve already started sprucing up some Field blinds and funnels. I`m more of a Turkey Hunter than caller but I can`t wait. I got a couple of very good "new" spots to hunt this year too.
I`m gonna be shooting my trusty Mohawk 47@27 and 64" long and either 2016`s with Tiger Sharks or Wilderness tapered Douglas fir with Tiger Sharks. Gotta practice a lot sitting down cause mid March will be here quick.RC

I am with you RC.
Just dialed in my spring turkey season set-up. Still can't refrain from actually playing with it a little more.
PCHX - 55@28
Victory 350 HV's - 350 up front while utilizing Big 3's and a 50 gn insert - tot wt - 565 gns.
-
I'm with you! I'm going to be shooting a Silvertip 71@28 this season. Hopefully I can find a suitable arrow for it this weekend. I like your think with the Tiger Shark RC, if I can find some I'll give those a try too. COME ON APRIL!
-
Dreaming about them as well. Spring Turkey is by far my favorite time of the year. I can't wait!
Just gotta get a little pig hunt at Ray Hammonds outta the way first!!!!
:bigsmyl:

Oh yes! even though I still have hunts planed for small game and coyotes, I'm starting to build some new Diaphram calls right now!! Going to try and head to some sothern states this year for the struters also!! Can't WAIT!!
-
I cant wait either. Love that time of year!
-
The last few years I've been gettin' just as excited about turkeys as any other game, big or small, I love 'em all!
-
First week in March, I'm ready.

My wife came home from the store today and said there was a turkey gobbling when she got out of the car. I saw toms strutting in a field last Tuesday.Strange weather for Michigan in January, but it still gets me fired up for turkey season.
-
Taking my 3 year old out with me this year. Our first hunting trip together.(Hopefully of many) We've been practicing from the popup blind and sitting still. (As still as can be anyway) I really don't care if we see/hear any. But, still gonna take my bow...just in case ;-)
-
I can't remember a year I was this excited about turkeys so early. I want to take one without a blind but If my boys(6 and 4) want to go a blind won't bother me a bit.
Trying to decide on broadheads now. Either a 4 blade delta or terminator 175.

I have a hog/turkey hunt scheduled for April in Texas. Hope to add a Rio Grande turkey to my bag.
-
Counting down the days...already practicing from behind my 24" tall portable blind!!! GOBBLE GOBBLE
-
I'm with you, RC!! Although I am somewhat worried. Our place is usually swarming with turkeys year around but they seem to have disapperaed this year. I don't know if it is because of the drought, increased oilfield traffic, or a combination of both, but I sure hope they come back before mid-March.

I am ready too however the reports I am getting from West Texas are not sounding good. I am still dreaming.
-
Right there with you RC. Some years I get fired up for it and others not so much. I'm burning up this year. Feeling sentimental....think I'm gonn hunt with a Jeffery 53lb, 68" Classic Timberline longbow this turkey season. My Dad bought it about 20 years ago and it has never killed anything. I just purrrr'd thinking about it....
-
I think I look forward to turkey season as much or more than deer season.
-
Im ready too. I have a trip to WY with Roger from BW and one to KS to hunt with KSTRAPPER. Should be a great spring.

Have a spring hunt scheduled now in April just prior to the Kentucky season.
Gobs on the mind!

Here's part of a flock of 60+ that visit our house every day.

In addition there is a seperate flock of a dozen toms that come around almost every day. I know right where the blind is going up about a week before the season. I took this pic last week from my wife's office window.

Mike you should have no problem at Tracy's finding birds. Tell him to put you on ole paintbrush, but I'm sure he will :) There's not a whole lot of birds here, and those that are here are pressured pretty good, so I don't get too excited for turkeys. But I hope to be haulin bait for bears :)
-
Sounds good steadman and Tracy has told me about paintbrush. We have been talking about a hunt for years now and I am real excited to get to do it. I Sinewed a new osage bow just for this spring.

Bill that aint right to have that many turkeys. You better kill some of em before they get sick and die :biglaugh:
-
Can't wait!!! Hopefully this is the year I finally take a longbeard with my bow. Going to be a long 3 months till season starts!!!!
-
I did not see very many turkeys during my fall hunt this year. Actually, didn't see a single one while in the stand. I have seen them walking in and out of my set ups though.
I've never hunted them with the trad bow before, so hopefully this is my year. I'm going to run some trail cams at a different farm this year, and hopefully I pick up some turkeys in the area.
-
Bill - Typically the dominant bird is the only one that will strutt this time of year. This bird may be the domninat bird, however I don't see any spurrs. Perhaps he has is bluff in.
-
Man Mike I can't wait :bigsmyl: about time we get this done. :archer2:
The turkeys gobble and strut all year around here, There's just so many anymore it dosen't take much to get them fired up. This is a pass through spot and there's a blind 5yds to the right of these birds.

Yes, i know it seems weird but you get a warm day in the winter and the toms all start to display and they get very vocal. Several mornings this Dec. they have woke me up from a deep sleep feeding right out the bedroom window. Here's one of my favorite pics of them trying to dry out on the fence after a heavy rainstorm last Fall.
