Hey guys,
I have some old footed cedars that I'd like to re-fletch for turkey season and the feathers that are on them are old and a little chewed up...
So what are you guys doing to salvage old woodies that are in good shape besides the fletching?
it depends on the glue. i use a heat gun and then steel wool to remove whats left of the glue
Thanks, $bowhunter$, unfortunately my heat gun is back in my shop in MI. :(
These were glued up a few years ago with fletch-tite...anyone ever try carefully scraping?
Just use some Lacquer Thinner or Acetone using a qtip rubbing it up and down both sides of the feather base where it joins the shaft. This should loosen the glue enough to get the feather to release with a little help.
Thanks, Raminshooter, I do happen to have some acetone on hand. I'll give that a try!

I carefully scrap the feather away but I also don't crest my arrows so it just makes the nick end a little lighter.
I just scrape them with a box cutter. If I have any sandpaper handy I'll hit the shaft with that to smooth things down, then a little acetone and it's on with the new feathers. Never had any problems this way.
