Title: Friday's Shots, where?
Post by: steadman on January 06, 2012, 10:59:00 AM
First one is a dream for most, as well as me. What a cool hunt.

Here's where I try to put my arrow, if I can keep my composure   :)

Here is shot #2. I actually put an arrow over the back of this buck at 20 yards. He was the one I was after.

Here is the spot where I should have been concentrating on!

Anyone that has some decent pics of game that we could use for this, email them to me at steadmanryan@yahoo.com. I have mostly western game and a few whitetail pics. I will keep this going for a couple months until bear season starts. Thanks!

I would let the ram take one step forward with the inside leg and then shoot about an inch higher.   The lope shot looks good.

*I guess it is just me but I like that middle of the lung shot. Gives me a little bit of marigin in case I peak around the arrow a little  :)

*I like the arrow on my dream animal to compensate for the slight upward angle and the quarter. I want a hole punched out the other side just behind the opposite shoulder.

They all get it done all day long, fun thread though. Its funny how different people think, when I look at others placement every time I would have picked a just slightly different spot.

NIce thread. I would move the shots up and forward a bit.

I would move these shots just an inch or so down on both of these animals.

I was a an inch or so ahead of Mike on the ram and with him on the 'lope.  Sure is fun to visualize being on those hunts.

I love these threads.  My favorite are the turkey shots.  I've never been 100% sure on where to hit a turkey.

I have to agree with stick n strings on placement of both shots. I like the margin for error especialy with being on the ground at the animals level.

I'm with James, but first I gotta settle down because I'd be sucking wind pretty hard after getting that close to that sheep.

I think "steadman" is spot on.

Wapiti792's shot is more toward the back of the lungs instead of the center of the lungs, especially on the pronghorn. Anything left at all of that shot on the 'lope is a liver shot. Nothing personal though, as both shots will kill.

You guys are such rookies...Here's where you shoot one! Better than a heart shot. So much blood Ray Charles could track it.

I would be too tierd to pull my bow back on the ram. On the prong horn my arrow would go dead center between the horns six inches above the head.I have big problem picking spots on animals like that.Neat thread.

TJ that is the Chuck Adams shot or where I hit when my heart rate is 200 and a ram like that is in range and I have a tag  :)

Mike believe me I know...and I'm sure no Chuck Adams. It was kind of a joke and kind of not. I've actually hit a deer there (not on purpose) and she didn't go far. I've always threatened to shoot one there on purpose but just can't bring myself to do it.

Chuck Adams?  Heck, just about every animal I saw Fred Bear shoot in his movies other than the big Brown seemed to be shot about there...

Anyway.  How do you guys get the cool little dots on your pictures?
