I know different snakes look better on one bow or another depending on woods, but in general....whats all your favorites?
Bullsnakes are tough to beat for me....not the rarest of snakes that I've used, but MAN do they make a lot of bows just POP when you look at 'em.
Gotta be copperheads. I would think that red rat snake, aka corn snake, skin would look really good too.
I vote for copperheads.....
I like Copperheads and Canebrakes because i think they go with the browns and grey woods i like.
Sure makes some great natural Camo...

Yeah! Rats are awesome... the limbs to the left are red rat, and the skins are a pair of wild caught okeetee corn snakes going on my Silvertip next month.

Copperheads over osage and yew are incredible.
Very nice David,I need a couple.
i love them all, but my favoirite is prarie rattler only because in MT thats all we have, and they are a pretty snake, if not as vibrant as some of the others
I like watersnake.
Diamondback watersnake, broadband watersnake, other?? They all have cool patterns.
I like bullsnakes, but they're illegal to possess in my state. Second choice is diamondback rattler. Either goes very nicely over black glass. Also have some bows done in prairie rattler. Very nice as well.
I love copperheads, but those rat snakes are nice.
Bullsnake for me. Looks great with Osage.

I put some water moccasins on a short yew bow that turned out fantastic. I used to think copperheads on osage was all there was but lately I've been looking to other skins like diamond back watersnakes. I'm always on the look out for something that is not done a whole lot.
Heres some pics of the moccasins

I love those watersnakes. I also love really dark diamondbacks with the white diamond outline,.
God bless you all, Steve

Copperhead, Canebreakes, eastern diamondback, and the skins i just bought on some of Bob's limbs. Beautiful.
I like they way my cottonmouth backing turned out over charcoal colored limbs. I like copperheads too but don't have one with that yet.

Plenty of bullsnakes here in Montana also!! We also have hognosed snakes. They are really cool, but hard to come by. I've only seen 2 in the 18 years I've lived here.
If I could get blue racer skins the right size, I'd consider putting them on my dark purple bow.
I love all snakeskins, just a very pleasing look with a natural camouflage.
This is a coachwhip snake skin I recently put on a 53" sinew backed osage. Wasn't sure I'd like a "plain" skin but I think it came out great.

I love copperheads.
GREAT looking bows everyone. I love this stuff!
Ooooh Pat, that's cool! I was just looking at pics of coachwhips. If a fella had two of them that went from that dark to light, that would make a bow look sweet! I'd have to get a red one for my wife's bow though.
I like 'em all, but I've only done diamondbacks so far...

Heres a Super Diablo with bullsnake. Look at the color of this bullsnake, this is over black glass!
Usually fairly transparent, you can keep the original color pretty close by using tanned skins instead of dried against popular belief.
You can either use a quality dry tanned skin, or even use glycerin tanned by "carefully"cleaning and degreasing the skin. This was a glycerin base ,oily, soft tanned skin, but after proper prep...here it is! With all its bright yellowish tail color even over black glass.

That is sweet!
I Like Corn snake and Bull snake best of the snake. I really like grass carp skins the best.
That's sweet David...didn't realize tanned vs. dried would produce that kind of difference in finished product.
My favorites are canebrake and diamondback(eastern or western) as long as Bob is putting 'em on. In fact I have a set of Morrison limbs with each one :bigsmyl:
Heh, Bob does "okay" I guess!
I would like to see some blue racer skins on a black bow. I have some six footers in my boulder wall in my yard. Something different.
Kris, your moccasin skins are nice. The moccasins in the southeast are much darker. Also I really liked those partially skinned takedown limbs as you dont see much of that. Yornoc, your work is impressive! Nice post too.
Copperheads and cottonmouths are my favorites.

I have diamondback skins on my longbow and really like them. Love the look of the bull snake though and think I will use them on my next one I do.
My favorite diamondbacks ever on this Stotler....deep, pine green colored with grey striping. Incredible set of diamondbacks.

Keep the pics coming, these bows look fantastic.
My favorite is an Eastern diamondback, great looking skins!
Hate to see this get lost in the threads so quick. I KNOW there are lots more skin guys out there!!!!!!
Here are my favorites backed on my arrows, Coral snakeskins.
