I have always wanted a 60" Fred Bear Takedown and was wondering what bow you guys have always wanted?
Easy - a Robertson Raven Styk, (http://www.robertsonstykbow.com/bows/hybrids/raven-styk-hybrid-longbows/) 58" AMO, #53 @ 28", juniper & bocote
I've been drooling over that bow for a while now...
And my other "dream bow" - a Kanati, is being made right now!
A good used Rocky Mtn. Recurve, RH 62"-64" 53-58#@28"
The bow makers back then knew what we needed.
Troy
Building something nice that i really like, and actually keep it two seasons in a row before someone buys it.
I think i may have to name a bow like Mike Rash did, or carve my name in the riser, and hide it when it's not in my hands. :biglaugh:
My Dream bow is the one I Have but with cocobola limbs Blacktail 62in 54 @28 (http://i441.photobucket.com/albums/qq136/bloodtrailer7/th_IMG_00573-1.jpg) (http://s441.photobucket.com/albums/qq136/bloodtrailer7/?action=view¤t=IMG_00573-1.jpg)
An osage Great Northern Critter Gitter. Wanted one for years. Finally ordered it last spring and received it 8 weeks later. Love it!
Anything by Pocahontas archery,Steiner archery,Brahma archery or Hickman archery, they were all made in WV, and the ones I have were a pain to find, but would like to have a couple more.
If I could pick any bow in the world it would have to be one of Paul Schafer's personal hunting bows!
My dream bow is an Osage backed with sinew made by my own hands. Soon.....
One with all the misses shot out of it.
Actually, mine is the bow I have, the green KMag...I fell in love with that shape when I was a boy and owning one was a far off dream.
I have not made it yet. I hope it never happens. Buttttttttttttt in the mean time I am having a blast trying.
God bless you all, Steve
Fred Bear's personal TD!
Man I have a couple but I guess it would be a early 1980's Green Stripe Bear B riser with some 55lb #3 white tipped limbs and a set of #1 40lb limbs ;)
I have mine.. but i sure wouldnt mind having Northern Mist Shelton
widow plx t/d - just got it!
I just got mine. David Miller "Expedition". He is the only bowyer currently building American Semi-Longbows utilizing Howard Hill's concave/convex limb design. Truly a work art in every detail. Top of the line tillering and perfect fit and finish create a beautiful, high performance bamboo longbow. And my bow is new to me. It has seen its share of the field and has the scars to prove it. Still gorgeous in every way.
So I guess I still have a dream bow. Same Miller "Expedition" built to my exact specs and design. That way this bow will be truly "mine".
I have mine but I would like to try them all.
The one I have - but that is why I bought it. :D
A BBO Firestick hand made by Dean Torges, similar to what he shot in MBBI. 64" 55@28. That's a bow I would dedicate to shooting well whether I could shoot it well at first or not.
I've already got mine and I'm lucky because they're "two" 66" Blacktail recurves.
That baleen enhanced bow Dean made, but I would never even ask if he would sell it, 'cause I like him too much. (Don't tell him I said that) 70# and it drew back like butta.

Winterhawk1960
I don't no but it might be getting made right now :)
It might also be a bow that would use ILF limbs
a schafer that paul or bart hunted with
jerry pierce choctaw
either or both.. :notworthy:
My dream bow is a Blacktail Elite VL. Hand selected museum grade macassar ebony/shedua riser with select tiger myrtle veneer limbs. The bow would be 62" 48#@28" with checkered grip... Oh wait, I ordered that bow a year and a half ago and it's DUE IN A COUPLE OF WEEKS!
Aside from my Hoyt Buffalo (autographed by Fred Eichler and likely will never be parted with) I'd like a tall tines t/d and one of those lil suckling bows.
A LH Type 1 Bear TD A riser.
However, since a fine fellow in Italy has all those under lock and key, I have mine and it is (tough choice) a Habu Hycurve.
I've given up on the dream bow thing but, currently I really really would like to have one of TwoTracks Longwalker longbows! I'm hoping to make this come true before spring arrives.
Roy,you are more than welcome to come over test all of them and having free lodging food and wine and maybe a wild boar!
Jerry Pierce Choctaw, or one of John Sturdevants bamboo backed, horn bellied bows.
I dont really have a "dream bow" to speak of. Most bows have something special about them. It might be the grip or the shelf or speed... You know what I mean. No cetian one.
BTW, I have a RER XR 64#@28" 60"ntn coming. Just got a notice it will ship tomorrow.
God Bless,
Nathan
I have mine already, but if Jason ever did decide to start building a three piece to go with my Kanati, I don't think I could keep myself from having one.
Already got mine, a Tomahawk diamond series ss pulling 55 @ 28".
My Howard Hill Tembo
Mine would be a 70" long LH David Miller Expedition pulling around 60 or 65# at 29".
Got Mine. JD Berry Apollo.

But would love to own a nice Griffin.
I have a Dean Torges Firestyx and a Leon Stewart Slammer...feel blessed...
Felix, I watch every one of those Travel Shows that features your beautiful country. I also read every mountaining climbing book I can get my hands on (Alps, Eiger, the 14 8,000 meter giants,etc.).
Your invitation is very gracious because I know you mean it!
God willing I'll be in England this coming April for three weeks -- daughter is having 2nd grand child. I'll be just a foot-bow shot from you I think!
A primo condition LH '64 Kodiak with knock out bubinga 55#.
I'm a one peice longbow type of guy but man do I want to try a Kwyk Styk.
A Black Canyon longbow...just like the grey one on his website.
Probably would have to say a pronghorn, shafer or TT. All great bows. I have to say my mohawk is up there on the list.
My dream bow changes monthly. Presently, I am dreaming about a really light weight (35#, maybe)Shrew Classic Hunter for squirrels, stumps and just plain having fun shooting all day.
A Silvertip or Blacktail or Robertson or Tall Tines or Stalker or Black Widow or Fred Bears personal TD or Super Kodiak.
Im pretty darn happy with my bow selection right now; but, I wouldn't mind having a Bighorn Ramhunter in the 50-55 lb range.
A Big Foot Yeti recurve!
one built by a legend bowyer like Grumley or a Torges bow or one of Glen St. charles bows.
As far as a glass Bow I would have say I already got it. My Striker stinger and another one being built.
Since I started shooting ACSs a few years ago, I haven't yearned for anything else. Well, maybe a Harrison.
i would love to have a brackenbury bow...john
Sixby is currently building mine.
I'm shooting it; ACS CX!
I have found mine.
All the bows mentioned would be fun to try. No one dream bow.
I'm currently shooting a Silvertip and love it. I would like to have an original 59-62 kodiak in the 50 to 55# range. I would also like to have a nice R/D style longbow. Heck, just give me one of each...and we'll call it even!!
Jason
I've been building my own for a few years now and probably will never buy another, but I would love to have a longbow or two from David Miller, Frank San Marcos, or John Schulz.
One that NEVER MISSES!!!!!!!!!!!
Really would love to get a Bob Thompson Zipper Scrimshaw bow w/ the scrimshaw work done by Gabriela(sp)
I know where one is Stephen.
I would love to have one of Ed Scott's gemsbock horn bows and one of his sheep horn bows.
Bill
A decked out Mike Yancy osage bow
Bill,
You wouldn't be talking about the one in Bob's basement?
I have a 64" Elburg Jaguar Special, 54@29 and she killed my biggest buck so far 2 months ago. But if pressed I would like another Elburg or maybe a PTF.
That depends :D I think he has 2 of them. One he had and one he traded for at Cloverdale about 7 years ago.The one he traded for at Cloverdale had alot of grey actionwood in it and other than the scremshaw was NOT a looker.
I have 2 Zippers, a Silvertip, A Hill, 2 Chad Holm's bows, a Toelke,2 old Bears,a Mikuta,a RER recurve,a Kohannah a few others and a couple of self bows that I made......they all shoot like dreams.Maybe I need another Black Widow or a Tall Tines. Or........maybe I don't need another at all.I guess we all need a dream bow of some kind! Off to the classifieds.... :biglaugh:
I had mine.
Sold it.
Been bugging the fella I sold it to to sell it back to me.
Tonight when I arrived home from work there was an e-mail offering the bow back to me.
John McDonald Big River 59' Kodiak reproduction.
Purleheart sight window, bamboo limb cores, brown glass back and burnt orange glass belly.
FIne shooter!

Gotta be a Blacktail~ seen too many on here and no one EVER has any complaints. They are lookers and shoot great.

Well said!!
I have mine. It is a Northern Mist, Whisper. 57# @ 28", 64" long. GREAT shooter.
I find the older you get, the lighter your dreams, a Griffin by John Mccullough that will be here Friday, when I ordered it I told him it will probably be my last bow, and he said
"yeah right" he's probably right.
But I never thought I would have a custom made Griffin because of a long waitting list.
But I guess my dream bow will be here Friday. Koa, inlay Bloodwood and outline, bamboo core limbs with Koa, leather grip. Can't wait to see it !
Thanks John
Carl
It changes regularly. Right now I like my ERC selfbow. Want to make a long, narrow, Osage bow though. I'd kinda like to make a a rawhide backed ERC Hill style, even though the ridgid handle isn't really a great design for ERC, but at 72" and backed it could work.
Have mine. Jack B Harrison bows.
Matt
I want a Hill this week.
My Zipper SXT - can't imagine having to buy another bow. Maybe a pair of matching LB limbs though... :biglaugh:
Pics: http://tradgang.com/noncgi/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=1;t=104651;p=1
Although I'm crazy about my Tall Tines. If money were no option I get with Bill from Zipper and get a SXT with grey dark rizer of somekind, either laminate or maybe quilted maple stained grey. With antler inlays from my first trad buck or maybe a carved deer track or arrow head out of a bone of my first trad deer. With Dark Colored Copperhead skins Carbon Foam Cores. 58" Long,55# @ 28". I absolutly love TJ's
A 52" Bob Morrison Cheyenne. He doesn't make the Super Short limbs anymore. I wish i got them when i had the chance. I have the 54 but would like it a little shorter.
I've got mine... Morrison Shawnee A-Riser, E-Carbon/Foam limbs, 62" (have 2, 60# and 64#, always need a backup...), also Kempf Kwyk Styks, 56" is my favorite with Static limbs (have one 62#, and another on the way 69#), have a 58"/61# Kwyk Styk also, but it may be finding a new home... also Thunderstick MOAB, 60" (have 2, of those also 62#/68#, ... the backup thing ;) ).
I have others, Morrison Cougar 62"/55#, Grizzlystik Qarbon Nano 62"/63#, and a Schafer longbow 62"/64# on the way, but those above are my favorites... Only thing I'd like to get at this point would be a heavier set of limbs for the Qarbon Nano, maybe 73#...
Truthfully, I'd like to sell everything but the Shawnees and the 56" Kwyk Styks and forget about bows and just hunt, but work and family keep me from hunting as much as I'd like to so I buy/sell/trade bows more then I get to hunt these days...
My Kanati is in the works. I'd still like to try a Shrew or Griffin.

You are in for a treat!
I have mine. My Black Canyon takedown and last summer picked up a 1983 Bear T/D Kodiak. Wanted the bear since I was a kid. Currently have a T/D Great Plains longbow and long curve limbs on order but there a few more. Want to find a HH, a Robertson longbow and a old Zebra that I had when I was younger. Always something.....
I have one, my Jack Howard Gamemaster I purchased from Jack in 1967 and one I don't have, an original Harold Groves Spitfire Magnum about 60 lbs. takedown.
I wish I could have all the bows back I had to sell due to financial setbacks. Sold a bear supermagnum that I drove in a a blizzard to pick up after seeing it in the newspaper for 40 bucks. Or the first bear grizzly I bought off a guy I worked with for 30, or maybe the Martin Hatfield t/d I found at a yard sale for 60 bucks, wow that was an awesome day. Maybe my dream bow will be the next one I find.
Saluki horn bow for me.

Another Nate Steen Sunset Hill.
Right now that would be a Harrson TD 60#
that would be a perfect addition to my dream bow
Collection
I would have liked to kave bought that Bear bow that Bow-doc sold on the big auction.
4 years ago i could have scooped that baby up, boy how times have changed.
Joe Van
My Kota T/D 62" 51# @ 29. Best bow I ever owned and I traded an old compound for it, which makes it even sweeter.
It would be a selfbow I built (the wood type is not important) that I can finish look at and find no fault. It would be tillered perfect and be whisper quiet. It would shoot consistently and put an arrow exactly where I look.... I'm on my 6th build and a long way from my dream....
This is the last one and I'm still not there but learning more and chasing my dream bow :)

The one in my Avatar.
I dream of shooting a bow that's long and sexy looking that transports me to "Sherwood Forest" each and every time I put my hand to it and who's arrows never fail to hit it's intended mark.
It is a dream I try to fulfill regularly by shooting as many Hill and Hill style bows as I can and sorting through those I think of as "Keepers" until a newer one pushes the "Top Dog" out of it's number 1 spot.
If I ever find one that completely fills my dream, my quest will be over and I will have a lifelong companion.
God bless,Mudd
I love my Black Creek Siren #55@28" #59 @ my draw, 64" long dark figured Cocobola, got my first Trad kill with it. Have a Black Creek Banshee that will be here first of next week, that is a beautiful bow. I also ordered me that Toleke Whip I have been slobbering over, it is going to be beautiful, should be ready in a few weeks. Would like to try a Shrew and one day have a Blacktail, I think they are beautiful.
I am eagerly awaiting the completion my first custom longbow, a 68" Fox Triple Crown Carbon. Ron King has been great to work with, and I have yet to hear anything negative about the craftsmanship, design and performace of this bow.
Mark
I'm sure glad we don't all have the same one...or it would be one heck of a waiting list!!!!! :saywhat:
My dream bow is every time the one I am waiting for impatiently right now :)
I built my own "dream bow" however I'd like to keep on dreaming!

i think i have all the bows i want, and 'need'...but i would like a new Howard Hill...
V-Archer - that is one seriously gorgeous bow. Nice work!
My "dream bow" COULD BE the 3-piece recurve that was mailed out to me this morning by RER Bows.
It's going to be gorgeous. No doubt about that.
Kevin TerMaat, the bowyer, hit my 47# request right on the money. And, with all the measurements he took from my current bow, I'm confident that he will replicate the handle I like so much.
There's just one thing left before it can be called a "dream bow": I have to be able to shoot it as well as I shoot my current bow.
I'm confident that Kevin has done his job. The rest is on me.
Mark
I would really love to have a Kanati LB made with tulip wood. And I mean ALL tulip wood, riser and clear glass over tulip wood limb veneers.
What I hope to order soon- A Great Northern Jack Knife Bushbow. 62" 53@28, Cocobolo riser with contrasting Hickory limbs, index grip and a Diamondback skin.
I really like John McDonalds Big river bows. But I'm thinking on getting another Caribow from Abe Penner a featherhorn diamond series 66", Just need to scratch up a grand some where.
Big Jim Thunderchild (on the way), Cari-bow, Tall Tines, Centaur, Shrew.....the list is too long. I plan to try a bunch of them at the Kzoo expo. When I finally decide I'll be placing the order for my dream bow. I do know it will be a take down, not glossy, smooth, forgiving and quiet.
A 66" Mohawk Sparrowhawk! :archer:
A Cascade Golden Hawk Mag with deluxe cocobolo or a Habu Vyperkahn...
I have mine. Its a Schafer Silvertip Recurve called Hand Me Down. 66@29 62". It was in my house all along, but it was my dads untill he gave it to me for chrismas in 2010.

Mine would be a 1980's custom bighorn one piece, #55 and 60''. Built in the haydays when Fred was in charge.
Mine is a Sunset Hill.
The "Holy Grail" is on the horizon and finally comin' my way.... time measured in weeks.....tic....tic...tic.
I think I just got mine from Jack Kemph. Its his new Raven with static limbs and it shoots like a dream.
Randy
I think my dream bow will be here in a couple weeks! 58inch 53@26 bacote wood big jim thunderchild !
I've traded for and purchased over 125 custom bows over the past few years looking for that "Dream Bow"... I Love my Silvertip, Tall Times and several Morrison's.
However, when I got this Bow in my hands, my search was over...
I had finally found "It", at least "for me". She's a Charcoal risered 56" 55# Kwyk Styk with statiic tips by Jack Kempf.. :readit:

Well, I did it! This thread got me dreaming again. Back on page 4 I wrote that my current dream bow is a light weight Shrew classic hunter for stumping and just shooting all day. I wanted a light bow, also, for letting friends use so they might get interested in archery. So I did it! I am on the list for my new Shrew.
Got mine... Shrew Classic Hunter 56", carbon/foam, 67@291/2".
On an earlier post I said all bows mentioned here were my dream bow. Now I must 'fess up.'
I am waiting on a Liberty Longbow by sponsor, Allen Boice.
Funny thing is, it doesn't matter how short the lead time is, it is ALWAYS too long!
Patience, where are thou?
My Bear A mag with the 44# No 1 limbs.
I living the dream with two Pronghorn Longbows the only other bow that I would add would be a Ferret Recurve and more Pronghorn Longbows.
V-Archer, You should be VERY proud to have made something like that....thats my new Dream Bow!!
