Haven't shot groups for a long time, so after getting my longbow all tuned up yesterday I wanted to see how it was grouping at 40 yards. This is the best I could do out of about 10 rounds. I had a few groups with some pretty good fliers, but I was able to keep it together for this group. I Love to watch the flight of the arrow. I shot a little at 60 yards today also, but had a lot of fliers. I like 40 and closer much better.
Lets see yours.

Keep working at it they will get better someday.
Great job.
I would show My groups, but don't have the money to buy more shafts at this time... I only shoot 1 arrow when practicing.
I would show my groups but we are only allowed pics that are less than 640 wide!  :archer2:
That's some really nice shooting for 40 yards. I'd be happy if I could do that consistently at half the distance.

Now that's funny!!!!!
On a good day I can shoot that well.............................with my rifle!
I can't see 40 yards. :scared:
Nice shootin'!
I wish they were all like this. This was just the best one out of 10 rounds.
Looks like you might have some spine issues. You were aiming for the white bag, right?
:D
That is some incredible shooting, the only thing my arrows are sure to hit from 40 yards is the ground.
I can do that easily...........at 4 yards.
Here is my all time best, honest to goodness, once in a lifetime 40 yard group. And of course, I sold the bow shortly after!! :banghead: :banghead:

Very nice group A.S. You could ruin a lot of arrows shooting that way. :)
You win! Great shooting!
WOW!! I would love to be that good one day!!
I hope someday, to have a yard that I could shoot 40 yds., but both of you are good shooters!
Even if Smithhammer is correct, you must have very good form. Nice shooting!
I can do that with my wheelie bow lol Recurve, not so much, but yeah fun to watch em fly, only part that sucks is having to find the arrow when I miss!
At 40 yds. I cant tell if Im grouping or not !!
Great shooting X2 and A.S.
Those are groups that dreams are made of.

I'd show my 40 yard groups, but the lens on my camera doesn't have a wide enough angle.
Great shootin'!!!!
good shooting you guys.... and real funny the other guys!!
howard hill would probably be jelous of that group.
Unbelievable

One of the funniest posts on tradgang! Thank you
40 yards is a par 3 for me! Congrats on the fine shooting!
What bow are you shooting......Great Plains?
Congrats very nice group,if you can constantly shoot like this there always be meet on your table.
Allen, how could you sell that beauty?? :banghead: :banghead: At least you had to offer it to me!
Great shooting, at my age I cant even see that far. LOL
:archer:
Very good shooting. I shoot out to 40 "during practice" all the time. In one of the TBM issues Asbell highly recommended distance shooting for practice. Personally I still 90% of the time at those distances do not see the flight of the arrow ...still looking at the spot and I do not know how Ive done until half way back to retrieve the arrow ;)
Bow is a Toelke lynx 64" 52lbs @27"
I hunt with 6 of my friends and they all laugh because im shooting stickbow now. Im by far no Rick Welch but one day they were getting ready for a ILL. hunt and were setting there pins, 20, 30, 40, 50yds.
I had been shooting trad for 2 years and i shot all the time. I work from home so i would go outside shoot 20 arrows and come back in. I would do this 7-8 times a day and got real consistent out to 35yds.
Anyway they were shooting 40yds and i thought what the heck and went out there with them. My first shot hit right smack dab in the middle of the dot.
Then we went back to 45-50 and i was right there with them.
Great shooting guys. Almost makes me wanna go out and practice. At 20 yards.
On a good day that size group would be me at 20 yards. Great shooting guys.
Nice shooting :)
I'd sell any bow I had that shot a group like that! That's scary!

I think Byron Ferguson is on to something, he only shoots three arrow groups as well. Since I am compulsive I shoot 12 arrow sets. You should see my 'to be fixed' pile of arrows, it is disturbing. What torques me off at longer ranges, is when I get a loose group that is on target with a second tight group that is always a bit off center and that is where I end up tearing feathers and splitting nocks.
I can't hit a cow at 40 yards (don't ask me how I know) great shootin'.
