These are from my son-in-law's camera about 300 yards from his house. Bout 5 miles from mine. I have not checked my "city" camera yet.

Here are my city deer.

David, Darrel has some purty good deer over there.....
Yea Kenny, and he is not letting me forget it. I may need to go and do some "baby sittin" bout Sept 15. :bigsmyl:
David... interesting that most of those deer are moving downhill to the salt block.
;)
Charlie, they are not. Ha Ha. The camera was mounted crooked on the tree. We think a deer or a turkey moved it. We are pretty certain it was a turkey. I think Darrell straightened it up.

Hey guys, make sure to use the tick spray and check yourselves. I had a go to the doc last week because of a tick bite.
This sequence of pictures from my $30 Public Land Camera, happened last Sept through Oct 2. (I've never posted them)the pictures tell a story as the dates will show. Bow Season opened on Oct. 1. I got many more pictures of other small bucks, does and yrlings from this little white oak bench...that just happened to be pouring red oaks last season. Hope some of the bucks made it through.
Been too hot to pull cards around here..maybe Tues.

Walked behind my place and pulled a couple of cards this morning. Got quite a few does, small and medium bucks, hen turkeys and poults, coyotes.. foxes or something, one wierd looking deer without a while tail and one buck that looks like he's going to be a good one. Also an owl having a meal.

No deer for my camera yet, but I got these fur-balls. If you look close in the last picture I think there's a cub behind mom. These are not legal to hunt in FL, but it's nice to see them.
There's deer sign everywhere in this area, but no pics. Go figure.

I had 3 of them little fur-balls, just about the same size or maybe a little smaller, almost in the stand with me back in Ocala, Forest in the early 70's. Two were about 5' from me in pines at about the same height as me and one right under me. Mama was about 40yds popping her jaws.
I was lucky.
Yeah, hoyt, they're everywhere up there. Last year I had one banging around in the brush while I was ground-pounding. I could only hear it and thought it was a buck (I had just had about 10 does pass by) and I nocked an arrow and put a bit of tension on the string. About 7 yds in front of me a nice bear busted through a wall of brush. It was great, but I just about soiled myself.

good stuff Jim. Looks like you're set up on a pretty hot spot.
Jim, is it legal to shoot the cat? It sure looks like a big one to me. I'm glad they are few and far between around my neck of the woods. We are starting to have folks get some on camera occasionally.
With a permit it is.They become legal with a bow Sept 1-no dogs. They become legal with a gun late Oct,deer season-no dogs.Dec 1,they are legal with dogs or other legal means.
The only caveat is that they only allow one lion to be taken out of the area before the Dec 1 hound season. The good news is,often none are taken before then. There are actually two big toms moving through this spot. One is big,the other is huge.
The cat and bear will be legal for me Sept 1 with a bow.I set up a treestand last year about 30 yds from that spot on a trail they used frequently put in Sept the whitetails migrated and through everything off.I found them later, three miles away.I'm getting ready to reset the tree stand in case but also know there may be a shift later.
Anyway,I intend to work that lion and bear any way I can.
finally got some pictures of some spots, i was beginning to think that there wasnt any babies around, and theres three of them...yaaa!

Ive been away for a while. destroyed my knee and stopped working on the documentary film because of it. I hope to start working on the film soon again.
Anyway, I have been poking around the woods. We have been having a really bad drought here and finally got rain the last couple of days after two months of nothing and weeks of temps between 101-109.
Since the rain the deer are back on the mountain and out of the river bottom. I' a happy camper.
After catching a few of these guys on camera, I'm sure ready for September 15 to get here. I need to bag them before muzzleloading season when the local hillbillies creep around in the national forest around my land.

I'm in the Ouachita Mountains near Oklahoma. Rooster Cogburn territory
It's some of the least populated land in the state. That's the best part. Deer, bobcats, mountain lions(yes more than one, shhhhhhhhh. I can explain it later), bears and hardly any turkeys. It's a playground.
I've been talking with AGFC though and I'm going to see about working to boost the turkey population. I'm about to go on the warpath against bobcats and coyote and wipe them out so the turkeys can do better.
It will be nice to see what this guy looks like when he finishes growing this month and rubs that velvet off.
He's a big boy :D I wish I could let him age some more, but I have to take what I can get around here with all of the people sitting on my property line in the national forest. I wish we could buy that land to keep them off it...

Ron move the camera and put a stand there :) Great pics as usual.
I've been putting together individual folders for each deer so I can keep track of growth and to see if they stay in the area when pre-rut kicks in.
So, I picked out my top picks for the bucks walking around my hunting area. I feel like I have a pretty good selection this season :)
I just think it's weird that I have some genetics in my deer population to where some don't have brow tines. In those deer, they are either non-existent(Little John) or they are elongated(Gnarly) and higher up on the main beam. It's not just one deer. I have seen three or four of them that way. So, it's beyond culling I think.

The dates are wrong obviously. It was 95 degrees today, sunny and dry.You wouldn't believe how cold the water is in that trough.Bears use it to cool off.I've known this old mamma for at least 12 years and she was mature then.
Momma bear just likes to dirty and ruin the water for everyone.
I always like seeing baby deer. I have fired up the corn feeder for the last week to help supplement these deer with something to eat until the food plots take hold.
I figure this drought would be hard on younger deer.
So, even though the corn prices are getting stupid expensive now, I will make sure they have a little extra food to eat to hold them over.
Uh oh, I didn't know there were cubs.
Looks like I need to carry my pistol when I'm up on the bluff now. Don't need a pissy momma bear jumping on me from having cubs with her.
I may go hang up some catfish in the trees for them to eat. Those are about the easiest fish to catch with mass. I want all of my animals doing well during this drought, especially is they have babies.

WOW....nice stuff guys.....
Awesome, it looks like I will have some coonskin cap material this Fall. I didn't see any coons there last year.
The little fella was climbing all over this feeder like an acrobat.

I missed this bear by only a couple minutes. Changed the batteries in the trailcam and had to reset the clock to 2:12pm.

Travis, What else is that in your picture, a raccoon? By the way, are you related to Chad?
Yep thats coon. The things are thick this year. I don't know a Chad with my same last name.
A nice little 5x5 bull...
this young bull is only a 3x5, but I bet he'd taste good!

Had some pics of this buck several weeks ago in daylight. He's gone nocturnal now, really filled out and added some trash to his right antler.

Great Pics, keep em coming.
i'll post some Saturday i HOPE!
Gee Ken, about time you joined into your own thread. lol. :p
I ran up on this guy while I was going to take care of some raccoons.
He's just a little young fella. I'm guessing around 150lbs.
Haven't seen him before. I'm guessing he's looking for his own range.
He's not hunting size for me. I'm hoping to catch up with the bear with ear tags I got photos of a while back.
I'm sure not upset with all of the bear activity :) I'll accept as many bears as want to show up to hang out by the river.

Killdeer, technology has been kicking my butt lately but nobody likes a quitter. I even got a smart phone the other day to prove that i'm not giving up. :)
One raccoon down, six to go.
It seems as if the little black bear likes the new area since he came down from the mountain to the river during the drought.
He's still hanging out. He may go back home now that it rained last night though. The deer sure aren't going to that feeder now that the bear is hanging out in the trees above it.

Still no deer on this camera, it's getting moved next weekend, but I've got a family of bears using this trail just about everyday. It's good to see bears looking so healthy in FL, but i can't hunt bears...Check out the time stamps, I almost had a run in with momma and the kids.

I've seen bigger in the last week but just haven't caught them on camera yet. Here's a couple young mule deer.

Tracy
Love the pics, some great looking deer out there.
I just had to order me a trail cam. Can't wait to get it, and set it up at my antelope watering hole.
(The bear pic I posted is from my friend's cam)
My father has retrieved pics from the farm he said he had 1500 before the batteries died on july 3.
will get them posted when I get them.
Great pictures everyone.
The bucks seem to be going nocturnal out here. Might have to put this cam down to ground level and get better pics of these bucks.
This fella reminds me of a whitetail!
Hard to see in these pics, but he has 3 or 4 drops/stickers...which is a bit unusual for Blacktails.

I haven't been seeing any deer lately from both the drought and the following photos.
I just wish this bear was shootable. He's too small, but cute. He's been getting into trouble though. He knocked my feeder over. The feeder is for does and fawns...but he's keeping them away.

I'm guessing this smaller adolescent bear that has moved in is a cub from years ago or related to the momma bear. She's not chasing him out of the territory and he's allowed to get close to her new cubs.
I never saw a young bear or cub with Momma bear last year though.
Momma bear sure has put on weight since last year. Glad to see it. Her cubs are putting on weight too. I was worried one of them had died since I didn't see it in photos and video last week, but looks like everyone is healthy.

Ok these pics are about a month old. I feel dumb posting them after all the slammers already posted. These guys will be on my hit list come October. Them and any doe. lol
I picked out about a dozen or so from 1500 pictures granted about 100 were just white.

LOL I guess the picture was too easy. I figured it out pretty quick also but my father was convinced we had a black bear at first.
My first time using the video feature and I got a few, so here's a couple of them. I hope it's ok for me to put trail camera video's on this thread, if not sorry mods. Click on the pics and let me know if it doesn't work.

Just one buck, a little guy. Lots of cars and trucks too! I moved it to my antelope spot today. Hope to post some pronghorn pics next week.

I just love this thread ... nice pics all ! Going to check my high country cam tomorrow so hopefully i'll have something to share.
:( Bear ripped my camera off of the tree over the weekend while I was gone.
I gave up on monitoring her. She's becoming a problem.
So, I have moved my camera back to deer traffic.
My Wife and I went up Sunday hiked into this meadow where I had left my camera during Turkey season in April.
This area is lush and luckily escaped any of the fire we had in this area.

:biglaugh: :biglaugh: CURIOUS.....I guess so!
First pic is a buck from last season ( if you look close you may be able to see my blind :D ) well, he's back , these pics are from the other day. same clover plot, but the blind is just outside the frame of the pic to the left. 12 yd shot come on Oct 1... oooooooo! nice one!
I saw this doe the last day of late bow. Her leg was shot by a slug and hanging. I made a stalk on her but got busted. She is still in the same area. Amazing how tough deer are! Hope to help her out early this season.
Then me getting busted doing business while stump shooting. Yeah it was 93 out!

I got my camera out late this year. These were from the first week. I'll be checking it again tomorrow

Katie, we had a doe around a few years back that was missing her back leg. She lived for a few years before she was shot buy a rifle hunter. It is amazing how tough animals are.
I found a white buck that I'm going to try to get pic's of. Hopefully in the next few days.
Great moose pic!

Gonna be a good buck. I had several pics of him last year. I guessed he was a 2 1/2 yr old then, kind of a spindly 7 point but he had good width and long brow tines which are very uncommon on this hunting ground. Was glad to see he made it through the season.
would really like to see what this guy would look like in 2 or 3 years, but with all the hunters in the area that I hunt its not gona happen.

Great bulls Ken! Just exactly where is that?
Good one Lon .... :biglaugh: :biglaugh: :nono:

This guy has a goofy left side, but I don't care
(http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h160/steadman_2006/trailcam019.jpg)
Ken, what is all the 52, 54 and 70s readings, wish we had some of those!! LOL
Huntmaster, do you trap a bit too? :D
This spot is nearly impossible to hunt with a bow for various reasons, but I do have two stands, one for north wind and one for south wind about a 100 yards straight ahead. Another is located to the right rear about 75 yards for any westerly wind. The long 40 acre lake to the right is a barrier and forces travel through this pinch point.
This cat is itching to be made into a "cat quiver." He cruises through every 5-7 days. If I don't get him during the deer season, I'm going to be real tempted to bury some cold steel in February. I have't trapped in 25 years but haven't forgotten how to catch a cat. :)
Rarely do bucks travel through this funnel until the rut starts but you can photo a bunch then.

I've been watching a group of gobblers for a couple years on this property, but have held off hunting them. The old boy on the left looks like he is mature enough. :) I do believe it's time to devote some attention to him this spring.
wow!!! way cool guys
Ryan that buck with the "goofy" side would be all I was thinking about! Very cool!
Great pics! I have about 1500 pics... of cows. Someone has about 40 head of cows on the property I have permission to hunt.
I have another spot I found that looks promising. Put a cam up a few days ago, we'll see.
Ken where does a guy get a stump like that? It seems to work real well.
Nice bulls, I hope to find some like that in the Weneha in about a month.

Lots of really neat pics all. I just have a few to share. I'm still learning about this trail cam stuff. The first thing I learned is to use lithium batteries. My pics were green when the normal batteries got low.

OK week 1 with new camera. No pictures, just me while checking it. I repositioned it a bit. perhaps some of the huge trails I found are seasonal, as I learn this property, time will tell.

Is it just my computer, the pictures look huge and not resized?
Nice bucks though and that unicorn buck is awesome.
Tracy
Generally I would have one or two bigger than these, but these are pretty typical for my area.

Here's a few from the last week. First week since beginning of July I didn't get the 6x6 whitetail in a picture. Hope that's a fluke
Here's some local mule deer, nothing huge but nice bucks for next year.

First rain since July 7th is coming in as this pic was taken. Pretty cool one I thought.

Thought you'd dropped off the planet buddy. Nice to see them shedding their summer "reds". Can't wait to see them hard horned.
Finally off the night shift buddy, sorry I haven't been around much.
Checked 11 cams in the last two days, 44 different bucks but no shedder's yet :D
It won't be long now should have a bunch by next week. I will send you some pics!
Tracy
I finally have some pics to share. I just put out cameras in IL. However cameras in KY are lighting up!!! Our season starts this weekend there and if either of these two show up in range they get a ride in my truck :)

Tracy, they have started shedding here, from several reports, and a pic from 30 miles north.Might have some on my cams this week.

Good luck on your hunt!

Been out in the hills hunting elk for a couple weeks, but I came home to regroup and head out again.
I have a treestand by this wallow, and I was sitting in it all afternoon. Apparently I got down too soon!
Had a bunch of pics and videos of this bull playing in the mud. Click on the pic to watch the video.

More pics of the whitetail! Glad to see he came back. I put some Smokey's deer lure on the tree and that evening I got the pics.

And then this pic. At first look I thought it was a bobcat, then coyote, and then I looked at the tail and it's as long as the body. So now I think it's a mountain lion-

Here's a few more from a public land spot. I think the hog in the background of the first picture is pretty large.

Snakebit40, I downlaoaded the pic and highlighted it then blew it up. Theres a large light colored patch on the neck and chin and the tail fluffs out it looks exactly like a grey fox.
Nice whitetail though and good luck with him this year!

I wasn't having any luck in the woods with pictures on what looked like great trails so I moved the camera to a field edge and Brushy swail as you can see in the pics. The biggest problem was the wind setting off the camera.
That buck is actually very good for this area. I would be happy with any of the deer though.
couple more bama deers was a bit dissappointed with this batch,we did have many does but few bucks out of 4 camera sets :dunno:

First "catch" with my new infrared. I live in a semi-rural area with patches of woods all around, so the deer use the field behind me at LSU's Ag Center as a through-way. We see them at times in the afternoon and morning but this is the first to pass the camera. Hoping to see the buck that fathered at least a couple fawns in the last couple years (two yearlings that came around with two does last year).

Seems like every year the wallows in this area get hit the week after Labor Day...and every year I'm off hunting some other area. Think I need to change my plans next year!!!
For some reason they decided to make a new wallow to the right of the original?

4pt - those are some great pics!! That yote with the apple is really good and it looks like he and the little buck have come to an understanding that bucky eats first!
A rare one for sure

Well I got my first trail cam and checked it today. Had hoped to see better bucks, but it's still early. I hope the Bears aren't going to be a problem this year.

Just had a whisker this week. I'll put it back out tomorrow.
That albino is way cool.
Keep 'em coming, guys.
When Hurricane Isaac came through, the area we hunt in Braithwaite, LA had 10-15' of water in some places. Wildlife agents and biologists have decided to make some major changes to the season in order to help the population bounce back from what they feel were substantial losses, particularly with the fawn population. I was indeed happy to see these pics on the camera I setup on Wednesday last week. As you can see from the mud on their legs, the area is still pretty muddy, though things are drying out now for the most part.

Thats a very nice FAT buck 4 Point !! Go get'm I'll be in SD next week for pheasants near Chamberlain
That coyote looks to have scrapped with something. Tough critters for sure.
Nice looking bucks 4 pt.
4 point.... you've got to stick that buck!! holy guacamole, what a beast!!
Coyote tail is bent up and over rear left leg while right rear leg scratches an itch.....
I put a trail cam on a BIG scrape in the swamp near a crossing I hunt. Not a lot of consistant times or patterns to figure out. Just sit till the rear gets tired and come home I guess. I think thinks will pick up in the coming weeks as mid november smokes here.
I think these are two different bucks but not sure. Whacha think?..
Cool how the first is rubbing his hocks together.

Travis, thats what I've been lookin for, but my workload just killed my rut vacation!!

This is all I had this week. Except for the 2,980 pictures of blowing grass.
I set this up on the edge of a field near a new scrape. There were heavy deer trails on all sides of it.

Hey there Ken, I have some great pictures I could share, just need to figure out how to get them on this site. hope all is well with you and the mountain!!
I can't stand it any more! I told THE ADMIRAL that when trail cameras went on sale I was going to get one for her to give me for Christmas. :D Sure enough, Santa arrived early and I have a trial set-up outside now.
'Course I told her it was to monitor critters near the chicken coops, so I may have to sneak it out into the woods.

By the way, notice all the moisture we been having in the Texas Panhandle! Dry as dehydrated popcorn around here. (http://i299.photobucket.com/albums/mm299/bowdart/critters/469.jpg)
RLA, I have pic's of three that have dropped horns already and that was two weeks ago. We have a rifle antlerless season that opens this weekend. Gotta love our states management practices.
This Guy has mad a stir in My parents neighborhood. He has made a few big magazines and has been in the media. They all say he's a nice one! There were tracks by the bird feeder so my father who goes by "Chuck Janssen" on here decided to put his camera out to see who the Vandal was that was knocking the bird feeder around.

Wow Charlie, what a buck! I would be checking under that bird feeder every morning hoping he would drop one of his antlers under it.
Wow for sure ! Is it legal to hunt that area ? Looks like its in town ?
Charlie where does your father live. I might be close enough lol. He is a beauty.
Thats one smart Buck Charlie, looking forward to next year.
Would be some nice sheds when the season is over ... better buy lots of bird seed

Just going through this thread looking at all the bear picts from this year... Shedrock, now THAT is one beautiful bear! I'm glad you got him. That will be an amazing rug! Congrats on your success!

Yep, totally residential. we have pics from last year. he has better chances of getting hit by a car than he does wandering 4 or 5 miles to hunt-able land.
Here is another residential Monster.

Wondered if this one made it through gun season. He crosses about 400yds from my house into a cut soybean field. I saw his big tracks a couple of days ago in the snow and put a camera out. He doesn't seem too alarmed about it. He laid down after his picture was taken.
Only seen him in daylight once..before season.
