I just saw Huntswithbows post about Surewood shaft test kits and everyone's reply had pretty high lbs. I was also getting ready to try a test kit. My first bow is a TT Black Onyx with long bow limbs, 30 1/4" draw, with pad it's center cut, 125 gr pts. It is 51# at my draw length. Stu Miller's calculator puts it at 70lbs. My second bow is a 7lakes longbow, 62 lbs at 30 1/4" draw, +1/8 past center, 125 gr pts. The calculator puts this one at 75 lbs. Does anyone think these are low weights? I was planning to start at 70 lbs and get kits up through 85. Any thoughts, thanks.
That's a long draw! I think you are in the ball park.

Agree w Killdeer...
Maybe go w the thrre pk of 4 weights. 65/70, 70/75, 75/80, 80/85. I don't think you'll be over or under that range..
But I ain't no woodie expert. I just worked up my first set. And at my 28 inch draw length, my #54 TT is eating up the 60/65 with 160gr up front.
So your (Stu's) calcs look reasonable to me.
I shoot wood only out of a 70# @ 31 Hill Tembo and my shafts range from 85#(lowest) to 100# with 130grn heads. At 30 1/4 draw you will leave them full length, and the heavier spine 85-95# will probably be better for you as they are for me. Bjorn will probably chime in and he also shoots the pound that we do, he helped me with the very same issue.
If you are wanting to shoot arrows cut to 31" bop I'd go with the 70/75's for the first bow and 75/80's for the second. A test kit with these spine weights should serve you well!
Thanks everyone for the advice. I'll go ahead and order some tomorrow. I think I'll go with 3 different weights, 70-85lb. I'd like to have 4 of each weight, 2 fletched and 2 bare.

Well everyone, these Surewoods are really flying. This was a result of broadhead tuning. You love to see it and hate to see it all at the same time. I ended up ordering more 75-80# shafts. They were the best for both bows. I've noticed that my 7Lakes seems to shoot the ones right at 75# the best. Thanks again for all of your help.
