I hope this is in the right spot. It seems that over the last couple of years my draw length is growing. Being the genius I am the last batch of arrows I put together I cut so my broadheads touch my knuckle. Well now I need about a 1/2" added. I there anything out there that could add that much without going crazy on weight?

I have used woody weights that I like that add length. Another thing might be to use a converta adaptor but you might need to add converts points? Something I have thought about but not tried is footing your shafts. This might be an area that the inventors among us could create; a easy way to add hardwood shaft foots.

What shaft material?

If wood then Reparros (Jim Davis). If not sell them and make new ones.

They are carbon. I guess it gives me a reason to get new ones.

Rob some company's make nocks that are 1/4" longer than others maybe look at the other end of the arrow for adjustment.

I was thinking about some sort of footing but I have 100gr. of brass up front and haven't figured it out yet. They are 5575 blems. Thanks guys. Rob

Hey Rob You could come down and build you some woodies :bigsmyl: I might even let you use my cresting lathe and fletching jig LOL

Rob, I have in the past,glued in a wooden dowel and the just taper it like a wood shaft.
You maybe able to do this but instead of tapering, you glue on a hunk of aluminum shaft and then ad your insert as always.It may take a little figuring to get the lengths just right. Do ya follow me?

Epoxy a 3 inch pc. of 2216, with an insert in it, on the shaft.

Here is what worked for me. I took one of my carbon shafts and with a high-quality cut saw, sliced it into short 1 1/2" long sections. I put an insert into both ends. Then, using a short section of 8/32 fully threaded rod, I screwed the short carbon extension on to the end of the arrow with "Locktite" on the threads. Then I added the point to the extension. I had to reduce the point weight by 25 grains to maintain the same arrow flight, but the arrows have held up just fine.

I think I've got it figured out now. Going to try a short piece of carbon shaft with the brass in it then foot over it with aluminum. Brass should be long enough to mate up the two pieces of aluminum.

That was a much easier way of saying it. And maybe the best way to do it. Good job Tom.
