I have always wanted one of these amazing animals. I was sitting in my brush blind this year on a recent trip to Texas. It was just getting light when I see these 4 eyeballs looking out into the sundero about 60 yds away. They popped and growled and fought with each other for about 20 min. and bedded down about 100yds away.
Well, I wasn't going to shoot them where I was sitting so I got up and stalked down the edge of the sundero taking about 45min. I finally get to them bu the sun had rose over the mesquite and live oaks and as they say, sun in my face wind at my back. Good thing they are blind. I made my first shot at 20yds and he took off running. I knew I wouldn't find him if he holed up so I took off after him. (not my smartest move). I only found him because I could see my pink fletchings hanging out and moving around. After a follow up shot and him chasing me through the cactus like a pissed off hair ball. I got my trophy. I was proud to say the least.

Awesome!
Pretty wicked sounding those teeth clacking together and a wounded rodent with tusks coming at you! Those critters are built for bowhunting. Cool trophy, thansk for sharing your hunt with us on the gang.
Good story bro.Thanks for sharing.

Congrats,I will getting after them after deer season.
It was such a surprise to see them there. We thought we were a bit to far east but the Rancher said he occasionally has a few groups running around. That thing stunk bad though. I have never smelled anything like it.
Nice! One day I'm going to get me one with my bow. Looks like you had a blast.
Great Job! Derrick that has to be the deepest finger groves i've ever seen on a Centaur lol.
Great stuff Derrick! Nice trophy. Still laughing out loud at your story! I can just see that happening. I'll let him tell it if he wants. Come back anytime!
Nice shot
Ha, that sucker chased me and I ran like a one of my daughters. I shot the second time through the thinnest part of the brush that I could and it was a perfect lung hit and he hit the ground. I called my buddy because I was so excited and I heard him pop his jaws. I turned around and he was running after me. I dropped my bow because I had to run back to my brush blind to get another arrow. I might have let out a scream i'm not sure. I'm a big boy but it honestly scared the hell out of me. When I got back to the blind I started laughing and couldn't stop. It was such a great hunt.

Ah the skunk pig. Though so much fun to stalk and hunt with stick and string they do smell quite foul and are rather ill tempered.
I hope I get to go hunt them again very very soon. :bigsmyl: :bigsmyl: :archer2:
Great trophy there....always wanted to hunt those little buggars.
