I'm getting ready to order a test pack of Surwoods this week. I haven't shot wood for several years.
What kind of nocks are You guys using, and why?
Thanks for the help.

I have always liked mercury nocks. I like how they fit the string with a loose grip rather than a snap. They are getting harder to find.
I prefer Bohning classic nocks because I like fletch three barred feathers and I like the big index on the nock plus I shoot split fingers and prefer a nock that barely grips the string. I do however have to cut the back 1/3 of the indexer off so they will fit properly into my Bitzenberger. If you don't mind a small or no indexer and a nock that will grip the string then I would suggest Snap-On Nocks or Nirk.
I've used them all and it doesn't really matter to me. The index on the classics is nice for when you want to line the arrow up without looking at the fletch though.
Any shooting in the dark will convince you that index nocks have a great feel.
Good hunting... :campfire:
i perfer the bohning clasic index. i ike being able to nock another arrow without having to look down.
Great thread. I just received my surewood test pack and was thinking about this very question.
I use the classics Brett. I like the index on them and how they fit the string.

Thanks for all the input everyone. I'll more than likely 4-fletch so idexing nocks aren't mandatory.
Ryan do the classics clip onto the string or do You need to hold them on while shooting?
They don't "clip" on, but I wouldn't say I have to hold them either. But I make my own strings and fit them to my nock. You could sand the index off thenock if it bugged you. What size are your arrows (11/32 or 5/16?) I will send you some to try. pm me your addy.
I like self-nocks, But That's Me
I like bohning classics.
As far as fit goes it really depends on your string strands and serving diameter.
They do not clip on like the others I mentioned. The inside of the nocks slowly taper closed so if you push them on they will hold most strings. I still file mine a hair so they slide right off. I shoot split fingers and as I draw I hold the arrow into the string.
I use either classics, or self nocks.
