Title: Quiver hood foam
Post by: Trad Whitetail on December 28, 2011, 10:18:00 PM
I picked up a used bow (Quinn Stallion 60# @28, 60" AMO - I know everyone will want to know and yes it is an awesome bow    :D  ) and it came with a quiver with no foam in the hood.  The quiver is the typical Selway six arrow slide on but the hood is different.  It is plastic and stamped with the Martin Archery symbol.  Does anyone know what type of foam the hood accepts?  It looks kind of like a Delta hood but I am not sure.  Any suggestions?

My guess would be that it is a Selway with the Martin Logo stamped on it...

i'd check with the folks at Selway.

Martin had an all black plactic hood with their logo in white on the front.  If thats what you have the regular replacement hood foam from selway will fit it.  I think its 6 bucks from 3rivers.

I was about to suggest bringing the quiver to Kalamazoo in January and try out various foam inserts.  Though it's still a good idea, if you don't want to drive that far, perhaps you could find someone locally who has a Selway type and try out their insert for fit.  You could also make an insert from styrofoam and send it 3R to see if they can match it.  They styro won't last long, but you could even use it for a while in a pinch.

DuffyRP - that is exactly what it is.  I have a bunch of Selways and it is definately not their usual rubber or rawhide hood.  Everything else about it is Selway except the hood itself.  It is thin plastic and is three inches shorter , an inch narrower, and a half inch wider than the Selway.  Probably not the best for Grizzly broadheads lol. The Selway foam does not fit.  I am guessing the last guy who had it did not have any luck finding foam either because it had cheap open cell foam jammed in it   .  Oh well - it was basically free.

I guess the made more than model.  I have seen two that are almost the same as the newer plastic selways but never one that short.  I learn something new everyday on here.

after looking around the only other Martin Selway quiver I could find is this one.  I do not know where you can get a replacement foam but I was just wondering if this is the one you have.

DuffyRP if you had a Martin stamp on the front that would be its twin - same arrow gripper and everything.

Get a chunk of foam and make one. It's pretty easy. Barge or contact cement it in place and go shooting.

Shipping would cost you more than the foam from some vendors .

So I would also find some foam and form my own.

I am thinking that also.  Where can I get a chunk of the closed cell foam like Selway or one of the other quiver manufacturers use?  Everything I find is either cheap styrofoam or open cell foam (think sponge     ). Better yet would be something like spray foam but less brittle.  Any ides?

Dense computer box foam works nicely....cheap too!
