I've been on a quest for the perfect hunting chair/stool for a while now, and can't seem to find what I'm looking for. Hoping someone on here may be able to point me in the right direction. The "perfect" chair for me would be:
- Under 3 lbs, and collapsible, so I can strap it to the outside of my pack.
- Absolutely silent.
- Comfortable for sitting in for hours at a time (I know this is somewhat subjective)
- Ideally less than $75.
Is this too much to ask for? So far, everything I've found is either lightweight, cheap and noisy, or expensive and ridiculously heavy. Anyone know of anything out there that might fit the bill?

Thanks folks! I should probably add that it needs to be a free-standing seat - I don't like being limited to having to find the right tree in the right spot in order to set up, and I hunt open country a fair bit as well.
And I want to be at a normal sitting height, not just slightly off the ground.
Maybe I'm too picky. Might just have to build it!
I have a six dollar Wally world camp chair. It might even be a kiddy chair. It has one attached Velcro strap to keep it folded when carrying and an adjustable shoulder strap. Weighs maybe 3lbs. I have used it for years. I finally found a spare, but had to add my own straps. If your inseam is over 31" , your legs may be too long to be comfortable in it, but it holds my manly 235 lb frame comfortably for hours at a time. I can lean forward and shoot a 60" bow or simply slide onto one knee to shoot..... Norm
This meets your described criteria though it may not be exactly what you're looking for.

Cost is low - get a milsurp wool blanket or hammock material or... whatever. Add to that about $0.50 in paracord.
Weight is low (or it can be) - the only thing you have to carry is an ounce of paracord and your seat material. Of course a big wool blanket busts your 3 lb restriction but you can certainly make lighter options work.
Silence is great - use the right seat material and you are a comfy ninja.
Comfort is too good - I woke my self snoring yesterday.
The only downside is that you have to prepare poles (preferably in the off-season). That will make some racket but once they are cut - you are good to go.

There is no PERFECT hunting chair, lots of options out there though, also different chairs for different applications...good luck in your search...

Wow. That's not exactly what I thought I was looking for, but that seems pretty sweet, simple and versatile.

Got the Hammock seat a week or two ago..
Pros: very comfortable, easy packing, easy setup, easy to shoot out of great range of shooting...
Cons: Noisy, Noisy, and the most difficult,, Made in Ch----.... I'm going to replace the original cloth with cotton to quiet it down. should be perfect.
A while back everyone was talking Huntmore chairs, so I bought a second one. I understood the first night out with it why my wife never complained about lugging hers around. It took me a bit to able to assemble mine as fast as she could, but it just takes a few minutes and it works anywhere. I like mine because I am comfortable, even with my very bad back, and in a ready to go position. The only time the weight is any problem is when I am climbing very steep slopes, those that tend to be a problem for me without the chair.
This year I bought a Millennium M-300 tree seat. It straps on a tree. I have used it several times now and I am really liking it. It is quiet and comfortable. I do not have any problems shooting a bow out of it. I put some backpack straps on it and I can strap my extra clothes on the back of it and at 4 pounds it is a breeze to carry. If you look around you can find one for less than $70 and it is made in the USA!
