I am shooting my grandpas Hawkeye by Indian Archery, its 50lbs @28 inches. Looking for arrows in the 540 grain total weight, going to shoot either 160 screw in Zwickey eskimos or deltas. I do not like the look of beman ics bowhunter arrows, all black doesn't do it for me ;) looking for a relatively inexpensive but reliable arrow. I am going to have to put some weight tubes in as I don't like the brass inserts (makes the field tips n broadheads come loose easily) Any recommendations?
try CE heritage 150's. i think you will be disapointed with the tube and suggest the inserts instead.
Use a little teflon tape on the heads.
String wax on the threads works too. Apply, screw head in then reapply, the head will stay tight until you unscrew it.
Yep, string wax to keep things from unscrewing.
GT 5575 Trad blems (.400 spine), and a 100 grain brass insert. Inexpensive, reliable, plenty heavy and the woodgrain look you want. A tiny drop of blue Loctite on just the last couple threads of your points and your good to go. May have to break your point loose with a pair of pliers though, but you can get them out.
Have you stopped in to Bearfoot Trad shop in Des Moines. I have not been in a few months, but last time I was Tom had some nice carbons in stock.
Yea I was actually in barefoot last night, almost ordered some ics bowhunters, but I didn't like the all black. I'm not sure why I asked this question, the aluminums I inherited from my grandfather shoot strait, and are plenty heavy. I found some Easton Legacy aluminum arrows with a wood finish n they are cheaper than a half doz fletched carbons, might just order them here soon! Does anybody know if aluminum arrows have inserts that I can out in so that I can alternate between broadheads judos and field points (like the Easton H.I.T. inserts)?

The Legacy shafts have the same type inserts as your other aluminums and are similar to most carbon inserts. They accept virtually all screw in points and broadheads. No worries there.

Legacy shafts are nice lookin. I wish they made them in my size.

Really like my CE Heritage 150's one of the heavier shafts you can get and the Heritage means they have a woodlike pattern. Started using them at the beginning of this past hunting season and they blow through the deer. Shot four deer and had four pass throughs out of my 50lb bows. I do use 100 gr brass inserts though. No issues with points staying tight.

CE Heritage 150's will work wonderfully, in the event you should want a heavier arrow you can bump to the 250 add lots of front weight and have a heavier total weighted arrow. I'm thinking a 250 with a 100 gr insert with same broadhead weight would be close. IMO. This has been my experience.
Beman MFX Classic 500's with brass insert work great in this range. Small diameter. Heavy weight per inch. 29" with 100 grain brass insert and 125 grain head weights around 550 grains and shoots great. Tough too!
Sorry. Mixing up my 400's and 500's MFX's. 525 grains for 500 with 100 grain brass insert and 29" long.125 grain head.
I have 3 carbon combos that work well in my 50#ers.
1. axis 500s with 100g insert and 150g BH
2. CE 150 (same weight up front)
3. GT 35/55 (Same up front)
The axis are my favorite but all fly well.
The CE and GTs have a wood grain finish.
Good luck with your decision. The weighted inserts glued in with hot melt work the best for me.
