I guess your method for edge-testing is a little more "job specific", but I think I'll stick to shaving my arm.
-
sounds like a good idea to me to LOL!!!
-
Man ! those New Zealand bowhunters take their broadhead testing serious, LOL !! 61 days till the opening day of deer season here...
-
Haven't done any Kiwi-testing yet :D but I do get my Ribteks pretty sharp with a file.
However, they do not shave as well as yours Landshark!
What did you use to get them this sharp??
-
My knives and broadheads are sharper than a surgeon's scalpel(sp). I found that out the hard way with trips to the emergency room and ER docs asking me "What made this incision?" Followed by statements like, "This is the cleanest insision I have ever seen."
Last year I was talking to my friend Crooked Stic as we were about to head into the woods to hunt and my Snuffer was sticking out of the hood of my GNP bow quiver about a quarter of an inch. Mike(CS) saw it and asked, "How you liking those Snuffers?" I mentioned I didn't get them as sharp as I like and then saw the head that was not fully cover by the quiver hood had brushed against my pant leg and cut through my pants and made a very light cut in my leg. I hadn't even felt it.

yup bow50 if it dont stick in its no good LOL!!!!
-
I'll keep using the paper test and leave the legs and arms alone. Got to keep that "old-growth" alone you know!

Shaved clean thru a Bear. Guess that's good enough for stone  Doc

philil,
I use a Razor Edge Systems arrowhead guide, a coarse diamond steel for getting a burr, and a fine diamond steel or ceramic rod for removing the burr. The Hewlett Jewelstik 1-2-3 works really well.

Nice head Doc! I'm just beginning to delve into the primitive stuff. Haven't quite got the flintknapping down yet. :banghead:
-
No problem, I get my knives just as sharp.
Mike
