Does anyone use a mapping software to keep track of their hunts and scouting?
If so what kind and why?

Terrain Navigator.
10 miles from the trailhead and not seeing a trail for 4 miles.
I like to know where I am :readit:
I use the cabelas recon hunt for the iPhone, u can go on a computer and download nice looking spots to the program. Best thing it cost about five dollars
goggle earth isn't up to date on most of their maps, any where from 1 to 3 year old photos on their pix of earth..
I have tried a mapping gps and phone software, but here is the sad truth I have almost perfect far vision but my up close vision stinks, so the small screens are useless with out my glasses.
I use an etrex because mark and goto is basically all I use. Have copied waypoints by hand to paper maps and printed google maps for several years. I can make them big enough to read. But they all end up in the trash eventually.
Looking to create some detailed maps on Adventure Paper (http://www.amazon.com/National-Geographic-Adventure-Paper/dp/B00005OMZ9) and save them on my computer.

Might take a look at ARCGis. Very detailed and you can layer over with topo, vegetation, water sources, etc.
