Title: Texas Turkey Hunting on WMA's
Post by: **DONOTDELETE** on December 24, 2011, 11:03:00 PM
I'm looking to do a turkey hunt this coming spring. Been looking in the Texas park and wildlife Public Hunting Lands map booklet and saw a few WMA's in East Texas that has turkeys.

My question for all You Texan Turkey hunters, Has anyone hunted them for turkey and got one? Also if You know any guides that don't charge a arm and leg for a hunt would also be nice..

The only one I know of is out of business now. If anyone has land and wouldn't mind a guest (ME) to come hunt, Please let Me know...

Sal, I just got back from hiking in Davy Crockett National Forest. Saw some deer, tons of hog sign, and some turkey sign. Take a drive and check it out for yourself.

Pat, You should have let Me know that You would have been there. I could have meet You up there..

That is one of the areas I'm looking in to. Might even have to look in to going up to OK and try some piggies, You know of any good spots? Would be nice to get a couple of Jersey Boy trans-plants doing some hunt away from the garden State..

Check the regulation booklet because some counties that contain parts of the Davy Crockett National Forest will not have a Spring turkey season in 2012.

They are here but the population is not very high.  After the reintroduction there numbers are climbing but fire ants and hogs are making it slow.
