Just wondering if there is any free ranging hogs in Pennsylvania to hunt? Have some family out that way I plan on visiting here sometime and trying to plan a hunt. Thanks
Not that i'm aware of. At least none in the SW part.
I'd love to know the answer to that question to. I don't know of any in SE PA either... but that's just me
i beleive there a few around north central bordering new york. i was reading an article about these wild hogs in new york causing a lot of damage and the sightings entered into pa. do not know the exact area though.
Several years ago there had been some in the Bedford county area. These had allegedly escaped from a shooting preserve. The locals had hunted them pretty hard but I have not heard any more about them the last couple of years. Might contact the game warden for that area and check to see if any remain.
Thanks for the help
There are some on game lands 219, but the dog and gun hunters have taken the numbers down. I heard of a couple being shot in the early spring, but haven't heard of any this fall.
Our late archery season starts 12/26, so at least we can hunt deer and pigs at the same time.
After that it's rabbits and pigs.
Slim pickings on PA hogs from what Ive heard.
None here in central PA.
Tioga County has some that got out of the hunting (canned) ranch..
I've never seen one here, lots of coyotes though.
Our game commission would put a quick stop to any hogs. We had a couple zoo elk get out and they got eliminated, straight off. Our deer, turkey and bear need all the available food. I do know we have some fenced game farms around that might fix you up. I don't much about it but I have heard you pay by the pound. You might go online for this type of a thing.
My friend invited me to go on a canned hunt for hogs somewhere in PA, he said it was about 400 or so for the day.
Not my thing so I didn't ask much about it, just politely declined.
Thankfully we don't have any here, if we did I would probably gun hunt like hell until they were gone.
