Need to change a couple glued-on nocks on swaged
aluminum arrows.Any ideas?
Cut them off and glue on new ones.
I just use a hand torch. don't heat it too long. They just fall off.
Lighter or alcohol burner to heat up the nock then twist off with pliers. Propane torch will work, but harder to use without overheating arrow and damaging any dip or wrap.
A regular ole' cig lighter always worked good for me, then a few swipes with some 120 grit sandpaper.
I (gently) clamp a heat gun in a vice and hold them over that to soften them. Twist off with pliers.
If you want tp reuse them dip them in hot water in a cup out of the microwave and twist off.
Turn on the hot water and hold the nock under, then take pliers and twist off. Keep holding under hot water until you can twist off easy.
Take some sand paper on the swayed ends and your good to go.
Just grip it with a pair of pliers and rock it sideways a couple of times. Pops right off for me. I consider nocks an inexpensive expendable and never attempt to reuse them.
