Title: How to repair a hole in a riser?

Many of us have seen some old Bear bow that would be near perfect except for a couple of small holes someone drilled for a sight. I have a bow with two holes about 1/8" dia and about 1/2" deep. I was going to fill with filler but then I thought about plugging with a dowel. I also know you can use some saw dust but wanted to ask what is best. The riser is Maple, it is one of the old Kodiak Specials.

Any pointers?

I have used wood dowels before with good success.You can line up the grain and stain them so they are hardly noticeable. If you can post pics of your finished project,we would love to see them.

The dowel is a great way to fill the hole. Or if you are handy with tools, get a plug cutter and make plugs from the dame type of wood. Another old schoool method is mixing dust from the same type of wood with epoxy and fill the holes. Either way it will be slightly visible, but less unsightly.
