I have been meaning to post for awile on my pack seat but have been pretty busy. I bought one to use last season and have taken 3 deer while sitting on it.
For my purposes this seat is the best I have found. I have a small bag that holds all my necessities clipped to the back. I also lash some camo netting on it also. It sits low enough to the ground to keep a lower profile and is easy to shoot from.
When I shot my buck this season on public land I was 1 mile back in. I lashed two back quarters to the frame and took the first load of meat out. I keep my larger elk hunting pack in the pickup and used it to haul out the rest of the meat. Best money I have spent on a hunting item for awhile :thumbsup: .
Shawn, is it tall enough to use in a blind? How comfortable is it?
It doesn't sit high enough for blind use. As for comfort it is pretty good. I have a bad back and it's better than a lot of hunting chairs/stools I have used. Comfort with a load lashed to it is another thing though. It's not a heavy hauler with it's current stap design but it did the job!
There are several threads on here about how wonderful they are and how comfortable.

I look at it set up and I've seen about a dozen pics with guys sitting in them. To my eye, it would appear the thing is about 10" off the ground...which would be like sitting flat on my butt with my legs crossed indian style.
At nearing 64 with arthritis and a back surgery, I've never found anything lower than about 18" to be comfortable to shoot off of or to be able to move without having to roll over on my knees.
I just don't get how that can be so comfortable?
Perhaps it's being 6'2" tall and 33" inseams that makes all this "leg" extremities seem cumbersome to manipulate sitting that low to the ground...
Not grousing, but I would love someone who's not athletic and young, to take a video of using one, show getting in and out of it and show actual measurements of how high off the ground ones butt sits!
Additionially, while I'm airing my questions, it would appear that the front is higher than where ones buttocks sit...that would mean my knees are higher than my butt!
Are any of my visual perceptions accurate?
When I did tree stands, I shopped till I found them with 22" high seats... so I could stand easily without grunting or having to pull myself up.
Thanks for any real feedback on dimensions and data... I've seen/read plenty of "it's the best" but that doesn't constructively answer my questions and the website seemed light on actual measurements.
I sat in one while in North Dakota...I was amazed how comfy this was! I'll be picking one soon!
Thanks. I'm a veteran of multiple back and other surgeries so comfort is a must. Sounds like a good deal for a backpack or run and stalk hunt.

I like mine with a small cushion on the seat. Doc Nock, all the pics and descriptions in the world won't answer your questions 100%. You just have to try it and play with the set up a bit. I know a fella "Bigger" than you that uses a waldrop prototype. No guarantee you'll like it but the seat height is very well thought out once you use it.
And there is some adjustment with the seat angle by adjusting the strap. I think the seat is about 12" off the ground if I remember correctly. Comfort is totally subjective for sure. It's no Lazy Boy recliner, but all things considered it's a great hunting tool.
I've got one on order. Hope it arrives before deer season is over so I can try it out. I've got high hopes...
Doc Nock, I had major back surgery in 2008. 4 disc and a tear in my spinal cord. The waldrop seat does not bother my back at all. It sits higher than it looks. I can sit in the waldrod longer than I can any of my tree stands.

I wouldn't trade my pacseat for any other seat out there, and I've tryed several. It's extremely comfortable and easy to carry. I would say a fella would have to try one to find out just how versatile this seat really is. Liked mine so well I bought another! :0)

So far all I can get for measurements is Ringneck tells me "about 12 inches".
I have looked at a lot of seats on line and they all come with ground to seat measurements. Not the Waldrop. :confused:
so I'll back on out...never saw any to try at shoots I attended, but will keep an open mind.
So,far, 12" prox is about 6" too shallow for me to ever stand up without a tree winch or a good buddy to come pull me and my achin knees out of the danged thing.
I love the ability to easily pivot and shoot using the Nifty Seat...I just don't like my butt and "boys" going numb in an hour...even using a thick foam pad!
Comfort sitting is important, you bet...but so's the ability to SHOOT! I've tried sitting at varied heights on things and measuring them and my ability to shoot accurately from those heights. NOT!

Doc, it sounds like the pac-seat woudn't be a good fit for you if you have trouble getting up from a lower position. I did measure the seat once and it was right at 12" from the ground. It is not handy right now or I would check it again. As far as shooting from a pac-seat, it works great for me but your mileage may vary.
Doc, the seat you need is the Hunt More. It swivels, its quiet, it's very comfy, the legs adjust individually. It's just a bit bulky and set up is not nearly as quick as Waldrop's but not bad.
My Waldrop is 13 inches high to the center of the front bar as I have it set up and that may vary dependibg on the amount of lean you put on it as you lean it on a tree. By adjusting the mesh you can raise it to 17.5 unloaded. The seat mesh is 12 inches wide. Depth varies but is about 13.5 center to center when at 17.5 inches outside.Overall length appears to be 34.75 inches. Seat back is 14.25 outside.
This seat is ideal for a still hunter who finds a spot and wants to set up quickly, run and gun if you will. If you have spots already in mind, go with the Hunt More
I've tried pretty much everything I can, I just ordered the Hammock to try out. You can adjust the leg height to what works for you,, so I'm told. I'll let you know, but it looks like it won't hurt anything...........
Hey Bowbldr...the only problem ya' gonna have with the Hammock seat is snoring so loud you scare away the deer! By far the most comfortable hunting seat I have ever used. No problems shooting out of it either.
