I went hunting this evening on a small oak ridge. The acorns have fell out but it has a lot of Honeysuckle on it which is good winter time hunting.
I hung an old Warren Sweat loc-on in a tree at the beginning of the season and had to go sit it at least once. As I was slipping up to the stand something caught me eye and I looked up and there was a hunter already in my tree.

Look close and you can see the loc-on on the right of the tree and the "hunter" higher on the left.
I climbed anyway after running the fella off. He came back a few minutes later for a snapshot then left again. I did`nt kill anything..don`t know about him.RC

Not sure I understand that statement... are you gonna shoot the owl?8^(
Anyway, Cool pics and story as always RC
Jason
Cool birds aren't they?
You know, RC, if it's public property, first come, first served (even if it's an owl)!!!
I've had Cooper's Hawks try to remove my headnet on more than one occasion!
Cool pics!
Just one way to thoroughly find joy in the hunt.
Thanks for sharing.
Good pics. RC. Someday I'm going to make it to the southern swamps for a stroll.
A great and normally unseen hunter. Worthy of admiration. We we chukar hunting earlier this month and came up a draw with two dwarfed trees. Three were huddled there. We walked around them. Not another tree for miles up in the high desert
Was that Warren and Sweat american made?
Yes it was JoeBuck. I still have one of the original climbers...be glad to let you borrow it.RC
In many Native American cultures the owl is the messenger of bad news. I hope all is well.
ha-ha,...i was lookin for a human, he was probobly just garding your stand for ya, did ya ask him if he had seen anything....i always ask them......
bad news is RC is bring death once again to the swamp!
I am too fat too hunt! I might start a thread called that.
Not worried much about bad news. My Faith is in Jesus not Owls. But I do enjoy watching them.RC
Had one fly in and sit on the branch next to my stand one time. He just kept watching me, I figured he could see my eyes, the rest being covered by a face mask at the time. Was neat, but spooky at the same time. Didn't hear a thing, just turn my head to look off to my right and when I looked back there he was.
Hmmmm, this may go back to the treestand thread ! I think that ol' boy figured since you left that stand overnight you could not reserve that spot! :) Anyway, i'm sure he fared better than you, if not today, tommorrow. They say you can't beat a man at his trade, and lets face it, HE HUNTS FOR A LIVING !
My faith is in Jesus not owls.
Well said RC.
RC, I dont know what those birds will eat when you have killed everything. Or have you ?
could be worse
