Just purchased a Summit Razor climber. Nice stand except it rings like a bell when tapped lightly. ( I bought the SS model ). Do any of you have any ideas how to deaden or reduce the noise?? I thought of using the expanding spray foam but I'm concerned that it might back-up into the cable tubes.
Did you buy the new model that has the sound deadening coating ?
We did spray our older model Vipers with the foam and it helped. Drilled a few holes in areas we could not get the foam straw into. Did not foam the tubes where the cables go into. The loudest area is the slats you stand on, make sure you get them foamed good. We were able to get the straw in each end and spray toward the middle.
Foam and pipe insulation tied down really tight with zip ties. Works extremely well for me.
I have the same stand, although I don't use it very much. If it is one of the older models (before the new sound deadening metal), then Summit sells a kit I think they call it "Summit Skin". It is basically camo moleskin, but very heavy duty. It comes pre-cut for each part of the stand. It works very well in cutting down the noise.
Hockey Stick tape
Roll it with some of that truck bed liner paint. Works like a charm and is non slip.
I'm waiting for limbsaver to come out with tree stand silencers.
:p
I need to put some of these to the test. My method is to just not move any at all
