Title: Refinishing a Widow
Post by: joevan125 on December 13, 2011, 09:04:00 AM
Im looking for a PSA X or a PMA X and was wondering if i find one that needs some attention, how well does a bow turn out when refinished by the guys from Widow.

Also can thay remove names from the bow and what about scratches.

I would really appreciate to hear from the people who have had this done, thanks.

Light scratches will be gone when you get it back and they will put your name on it. They do a good job on them.

I had a SAII refinished by widow, and they remachined the riser to accept the PSA limbs while they were at it. The bow looked as good as any I have purchased new. They removed the name of the original owner for me also.

Unless there were holes drilled in the riser or something major to repair the bow will look just like the day it was born.  All of the writing comes off and is rewritten when the new finish is applied.  Widows clean up very nicely!

I had a an SA that I bought used and was lookin' poorly so I sent it off to BW.  What I got back was a brand new bow!  All the dings, scratches, and chips in the finish were gone.

I've had three refinished by the Widow Workers. You get a "mint new" bow when they're done. Super work for sure. Right around $160 with return shipping included in the price. They refinished a TFV for me that looked like it was ran over then dragged behind a truck when I sent it to them. Came back like a new bow. Eventually sold it and it made it's way into the hands of Warren Womack. He writes about it in his "Womack Journal" as the "Yellow Dog" Widow.

My charges for a refinish are listed on my website link below.  I don't know the cost of Black Widow's refinish but would guess it is somewhat in line with that.  I'm sure a quick phone call or email would tell you.

I had my 1990 MAII refinished, and limbs shaved from 58# to 53# for $175 about 6 years ago.  Great work by the Widow Makers.

If you go to the widow site, and look under FAQ, I think you will find your pricing answers.

For a small fee Widow will also shave some weight and retiller it for you if you want.
