Just wanted to let everyone know there's a real jerk on here with you good folks! His name is Rick Jones and his handle is compound convert! I made a trade with him on some arrows. I sent mine the next day and he never sent mine! This was 2 weeks ago and now he says he's not accepting pm's! It's my own fault and I offer this important piece of advice- Always check the SCAMER list first!!! I didn't check until a week ago and what do you know there he is on the top of the list! This guy even claims to be a marine, what a joke I was a marine and let me tell you to do this to people you have no honor, courage or commitment! This guy is just straight up a piece of chit!!! I hope he reads this! It's all ok though because I have an adress and Texas is a short drive from Oklahoma! He should know how a marine will deal with this!!!!!
Dirt bag!!!
Baby blue marine!!!
Too many posts on bad dealings with this guy. Sorry about your misfortune, should be a pretty drive.
Isn't Davis in Southern Oklahoma? Maybe its not that far away after all!
Only a couple hours drive! Hehehe plus I go there anyways!
I'll take a ride with ya.
I'm up for a road trip!
Im' in, my knuckles have been needing a workout anyway......can't think of a better way to exercise them !!!!
Occassionaly justice is served. I've been ripped off a few times--some I recovered, some I didn't. Scammers are generally cowards--I threatened to drive to TX once--and I meant it--and I got a check in short order. Took several years to catch up with another, but thanks to his vanity I found him--he made a short appearance as a guest on a hunting video! The folks that produced the video helped me out on that one.
Sooner or later they get what's coming to them.
Chad
The guy is not even a member of TradGang, why are you dealing with him?
Mike
you are right on semper fi stan
Mike,
He was a member till he was banned last week for scamming a host of folks here and elsewhere....and from what I heard, mostly elsewhere.
Mike, like I said its my fault for not researching him. I don't need any lectures I know I'm I'm the wrong. Thanks for your input though!
Hey gorilla did you go on your big hunt yet?
Thanks terry just wanted to make folks aware!
After reading the posts in this thread, I went back and checked the Forum Index page and maybe I can't see as well as I used to when I was much younger, but I can't find the Scammer's List.
Just where is it?
Go to forum home, scroll down to big red box with yellow letters.Makes us Texas guys look bad.I hate to hear this stuff...
He tried to take me for the 38 inch pair of copperheads I have listed. Said he sent a money order and could I go ahead and send the skins.
Like a active duty recon marine is going to advertize such. What a disgrace.
Sorry to hear this Jason. Do you need some arrows? PM if you do I will see if I can help.
Where is he in Texas?
I knocked on a door last year and got a bow back on a scam for a guy.
I know lots of cops here.
A talk with his commanding officer might help if he is a marine.
Mike
Your money order for the pair of copperheads was sent. Thank you sir, and i am looking foward to doing ALOT MORE business with you. My address again,
RICK JONES
815 E. GRAUWYLER #138
IRVING TX 75061
THANK YOU SIR
Too bad some people have to be that way.
Hope everything works out for you.
X2 What wingnut said about a chat with his commanding office, if he is really a marine. It can work wonders.
He's no Marine!!!!! We wouldn't have the likes of him!!!!
I doubt at all that this guys is a Marine... if so... then he needs some "counselling"...
ak.
Gents,
I got scammed, too. Because he was "shipping out" is sent him an inexpensive bow. I trusted that he as military and would not be a scum bag.
Having said that, we have his address. He is only 200 miles from me.
Who wants to pay him a visit, with me?
We can stay at my brother's house, for the night, and then go see him.
Any takers?
Matt "Raging Water" Hamilton
This just sucks :dunno:
One a side note did u trade him for arrows that you need?
I might have some if you need some?
Email me at mhamilton@jacobshomes.com or call me at 512-567-3329
If you are up for a road trip.
Please, understand.... you dont have to go. But, I am going!
For those of you that know me (and my hobby) He better cough it all up. Or it will be ugly.
Matt
As said on stickbow.com if you were ripped off and it involves the USPS you can file/sign a complait against this person and if they get many complaints the postmaster genral Lawenforcement brach will investigate for theft/fraud
Don't make yourselves liable if there is a legal remedy. These dirtbags aren't worth an assault complaint, and trust me, if HE is on the end of anything that he can retaliate about, he will.
Active duty recon Marine, huh? Must be stationed at that big Marine base in Irving (there isn't one).
Scammers are the scum of the earth, but they aren't worth a warm bucket of spit, let alone getting yourself in a jam.

I was wondering that myself, sorry to hear that so many folks got ripped off.
Just to make sure that it is Very Clear this guy is Rick JONES with an O--NOT Rick JAmes with an A...Kinda shocked me when I first read that--too close for comfort--I hope it works out for ya'll and he get whats coming to him!
Rick James from Georgia
I appreciate the offers but I don't need the arrows. Yes I did ship through USPS who else went through them? Maybe those whose been scammed can all file grievances on this guy. This guy makes me sick how many people he has gotten to! The adress that's posted is the adress I shipped to.
from the ***********.....
Just wanted to let everybody know that I contacted the Irving, Texas police dept. I sent him my bow, and he was supposed to send me his bow. This guy is in jail now. He had felony warrants against him. From what the police are telling me, this guy was into a lot of illegal stuff. Fake military ID. I guess you know that he wasn't in the military? Using a different social security #, etc. The problem now is, the post office seems to have lost my bow. And, I'm in the process of trying to get that back. Just thought I'd let everyone know. And I hope everyone has a Merry Christmas! James
Sent him a quiver for free after he said he was an active marine.Said he was sending me a surprise gift which I did not ask for.Have not seen anything yet.No big deal to me but guess his word is no good.Hate that some good folks here got scammed,BUT remember, what he does will come back to him with interest.
Guess I feel lucky after reading this. I had offered to take a vet hunting on the "trade a hunt" forum and rick jones responded. He was supposed to stay with me in mid November but never showed. (I guess he was in jail). Glad I didn't open my home up to him.
Brian
Glad to see the boys in blue caught up with him! What goes around comes around!
Good to hear that! Hope he goes away for a while! Maybe he didn't get my box then and I can get it back if the post office still has it! The fact he's I'm jail just made my night!!! Lol!!!!
Wow, no wonder I didn't get the wraps we traded! He said he was training to be deployed on the 22nd of this month. I thought there was delivery problems on this end!
Not only is he a thief, he is a wannabe Marine. I just can't abide thieves, and military posers are one of my pet peeves. I hope he enjoys the cross bar hotel for a long time to come.
Matt - sounds like you need to call the Irving P.D. and add to the charges if you haven't done so already. Good luck amigo.
It is true, what comes around goes around.Nice when that happens.
Glad to hear this scumbag is in jail!!!
What prevents that guy on loging in again on this site with a different name and play his dirty games again?I wish you knew his face and post his picture.I am trying to upload mine but havent figured it out yet.(newby here).I bought a bow from hard head though a couple weeks ago and the transaction was perfect.I think the dirtbags here are a handfull..
If he's in jail - someone should send him a skirt.

Gents,
Since he is in jail, that's good. But, I like Rob Green's idea. We should all contact the Irving PD, and file more charges.
Anyone have a contact there? If not, I will get one.
Matt
Well,Im sorry to hear of someone getting burned here.I on the other hand have had a bunch of rock solid deals and met really great people here.I am glad to see that if you do someone wrong here that it isnt taken lightly! It is tough to be carefull enough these days.Happy holidays to all.
When he gets out, I'll pay for the gas!
I'm with Matt! Anyone who's been burned by this guy needs to contact the Irving pd and let them know what's been done!
After reading this post I just realized I was scammed by this guy too. After many many positive dealings on here I got burned. Luckily I am only out 4 arrows. As far a filing charges, I am pretty certain that won't happen. All transactions made on this site are of a civil nature and the only way to recoup any money would be a civil lawsuit. No Prosecutor I know would touch it. Just my experience in such matters.
Here is a copy of a post on stickbow:

So it looks like your road trip probably won't do you much good. Sorry to hear that you some folks here got ripped off by the guy. I would recommend contacting Irving Police Dept. to see if they could use some additional evidence against him. If you are lucky, they may have recovered some of the stolen stuff and you will eventually get it back.
Having been in law enforcement, though, I can tell you it could be a lengthy process.
Sorry for the double post. It was getting kinda late, and I was up with sinus infection.
Guys,
If you were ripped off by this guy please go ahead and contact the local PD asking to make a statement. Even if you don't get your stuff back or they are unable to lay charges in YOUR case the information is excellent supporting evidence and will lend weight to any court case or sentencing report.
As an investigator I always love to have stuff like this in my pocket when the defence lawyer for a guy like this gets up and talks about what a great guy his client is and how he made a mistake and he's learnt his lesson. Hard for him to make a persuasive case for that with a victim list that runs out the court house door......
I agree the more evcidence against him the better,as far as I;m concerned impersonating an active duty marine should get him life.
This person got me for a Bitzenberger fletcher just a couple of weeks ago. :deadhorse:
Maybe everyone can send him a gift package to his jail cell! Let's see someone already said skirt,so how about some pink women undies and some lipstick, glue on nails, high heels, lube, perfumes and maybe some fake eyelash's...Be nice if his room mate is named "Bubba".. :biglaugh:
Where can I find this scammer's list
Being a retired Detective I will give you my , for what its worth. Contact the PD that arrested him if you want but I think justice would be better served if you called the Prosecutor that is handling his case. With a pocket full of complaints of other fraud cases the prosecutor could threaten additional charges if this guy doesn't plead out. Chances of additional charges are slim. As funny as it sounds they won't over charge someone for this. I have been in on many back room talks with prosecutors about these types of things and believe me this will work against the suspect.
Wow. This piece of work has done a lot of folks bad on here. Though, from what I've read in this thread the worst thing he did was pretend to be a Marine. As a recovering squid I find that deplorable and I think he should be left alone in the cell with a Gunny for about 5 minutes. It's Texas right. They appreciate justice...
There isn't a thing in the world a salty Gunny and his boot couldn't rehabilitate this piece of work of!
I agree with Jon. Being arrested in Irving, any charges would be filed in Dallas County. The District Clerk will have a public record of the charges and by now they would have been assigned to a court or will be going to the Grand Jury for indictment. Contact the DA with any additional complaints and stack 'em up on him.
Danny

I know your hobby, same as mine ;)
Wife and I had lunch with Matt two winters ago. I think he may be a handfull if he gets his hands on this guy, lol
oh theres a way to get at someone in jail any jail or prison, and its pretty easy actually.
I almost traded that Sarrels I had listed alittle awhile ago.For some reason I didn't.I would of been out a bow and shipping.
Sorry to hear this, a nightmare for sure!
I actually know very few folks here, in terms of having met them. However, I've had nothing but A+ experiences on every single deal. Very honest dealers here.
Whenever I'm about to buy, trade, or sell something here I always check their post numbers and then go to some of the threads they've started or responded too. If someone doesn't have several hundred posts I'm pretty shy of them.
It is uncanny how often when I'm reviewing some posts how I'll come across someone who knows the person. I then contact that person to get sort of a reference. A phone call with the prospect can also be enlightening.
It may take many dozens of transactions (which I'm not planning on) before I run into a bad apple but I haven't yet.

Too bad he isn't in Ohio. I know of a few guys I could put him in a cell with. :readit:
I just want to say thanks! Several people have pm's me offering me arrows! This speaks volumes for the majority of the good people on this site. I will not hesitate to do buisiness on this site again I will just do a little research next time! I believe 99% of the folks here are good people it's just the select few that make us need to be careful!
a tradgang member got me for a leather armguard and some $ on here a couple months ago... its not that rare to be scammed on this site when dealing with smaller items such as quivers, arrows, etc. i had several people tell me they had a similar experience. i am still waiting for the mans name to be added to the wall of shame so no one else get ripped like i did. i would say the guys name but i might get in trouble like i did last time
and i started a thread similar to this one warning people of my experience and the guy who did it but it quickly got removed. the thread wasn't bashing the guy, it was titled "just a friendly warning or someone who scammed me"
The reality is this....I'd get way too much personal satisfaction out of splittin his wig...
I got burnt on a quiver once. I expected to receive a like new item like it said it the classified post. But when I got the quiver half the mount had be cut and totally modified. I ask the guy why he didn't say that it had been modified. Then he had the nerve to block my PMs. This guy was a real tool bag.
Sorry for your mishap but their are some real low lifes out their.
HEY MATT FROM YOUR INFO SOUNDS LIKE LIVE ABOUT 30 MINUTES EAST OF ME.BE GLAD TO ACCOMPANY YOU.IM ORIGINALLY FROM D/FW AREA SO HAVE PLENTY OF FRIENDS THERE. "I HATE RUDE BEHAVIOR IN A MAN...WONT TOLERATE IT" ---CAPT. WOODROW CALLE FROM LONESOME DOVE
Wow and it only took a few scams to get him kicked off!! After the first one I'd think he'd be gone!?
Tradarrow I was thinking the same thing????

What they do is go on a tear....and by the time we find out about them, they've scammed more than we've heard about. Again, most were taken on other sites from what we heard.

Yes, we do remove them as long as we feel they might be an isolated incident....we have no idea if these complaints are real just because someone posts them....so we pull them till we find out more info. This keeps folks from wrongly accusing folks out of malice, or if there was some honest miss-communication.
Thanks for making that clear Terry and thanks for all that u do!
Jon Stuart is correct... Go talk to, or better yet, send a well written LETTER to the District Attorney who's office is going to handle any pending or new cases. Each and every one of you who was ripped off should write to the DA. Now understand, the chance of recovering anything lost is slim to none. He is most likely a drug addict and is broke, as is often the case. And I would suggest that you request that the DA specify special Probation conditions (due to the over-crowding in Texas and compassionate Judges, I'm betting he will get community based supervision "PROBATION", in whole or in part). I know, he deserves jail, but the prisons are FULL, and the public coffers are empty, so only the worst criminals end up doing any real time. "It is what it is".
Ask the District Attorney, in writing, if he or she will PLEASE request that the Judge includes special Probation conditions that prohibit the dirtbag from surfing the internet and or online forums, and allow SEARCH conditions (of home, computor, cell phone, etc.) by Law Enforcement in order to ensure that he is NOT online and looking for more victims. Remember, DA's ALWAYS seek to respond to the public, and if even half of you guys write what I suggested, there is a very good chance that the DA will act. Also find out who his Probation Officer is, or will be, and contact them, via E-mail and CC their top brass in Texas. It might take some effort to track everyone down, but hey, no good deed should go unpunished, right? This creep took his time to pretend he was a Marine and to con everybody. Make this SOB SUFFER and hold him accountable in Court!
Otherwise, he will log back on, if he hasn't already(!!??), under a different name and strike again. I would also suggest that NOBODY drives out to confront this jerk. It's not worth risking a criminal charge on a bum who has nothing. We are better than that. I fully understand the rage, but let's all take a deep breath and use our heads and handle this via the correct channels. The internet works for us good guys too.
ex-marine? Code Red
Poser not a real Marine. If he was in the Corps with no integrity, he was probably invited to leave. As said before do not offer to do him violence. I hope he gets whT he deserves, and hope a good deal falls into your lap soon
