Well I figure that this is as good a way to make my first post as any. New to the Trad hunting scene but been floating around here for the last year gaining all the info I can. So I hung up the wheels early this year and been working on my shooting with my Bear recurve. Things are coming along pretty well and feel very comfortable in my shooting to take it to the field.
Anyways, after a quiet morning in the stand I headed back this evening to my best stand again. Wind was up and howling but blowing from a good direction. All was quiet tonight till the last minutes of shooting light. I hear some steps and catch the outline of a body and see the white of horn. The leaves were real noisy but didnt hear this guy till the last few feet before the shooting lane. As he came out I grunted and he stopped at 25 yards. Drew back and released and watched the illuminok fly and miss him by about a foot in front of his chest. Oh well thats the way it goes. Not sure why but at least it was a clean miss. I will attribute it to very low light and rookie nerves.
Anyway Hope to have more opportunities and look forward to talking to you all some more.
John
Welcome to the addiction!
I'm no rookie by any means, and I don't use luminoks, but I have missed my share...even in broad daylight.
Glad to have you aboard.

Hi there. Hap
Pick a spot. It is extremely easy to forget to do that. Missing happens often then.
Good luck on the next one.

Glad to have you on the forum. Now that you have that miss out of the way, pick a spot and post the story when you connect on the next one.
im in the 3 figure range on misses. killed a lot of animals, but missed more than i have killed. i "usually" completely miss or double lung em.
i saw someones quotes on here that said
as the eye wonders so does the arrow. I dont think it could be said any better.

Welcome to TG site. When I first found the TG site, I lurked on here for about two months and then decided to join.
As for missing your first deer, you won't be the first newcomer to Trad to miss your first deer and you certainly won't be the last.
Best welcome J. Thanks for the story. Experience 101.
