Post by: D. Key on December 10, 2011, 09:23:00 PM
I'm interested in trying "Manly" Pink next year.  Please post pics of your arrows, as I need some ideas.

Thanks.

I'm sure Allen will be along shortly!

He was most likely up late last night spinning a few strings for someone!

I'm slowly working on some pink fletched arrows for my girlfriend.  Guess I should speed it up since they are a Christmas gift.  They are black Carbon Express Predator II.  Purple crown dip (actually sprayed), pink feathers with pink, purple, and silver crest.  I'll try to get some pics when I get one finished.  I hope they turn out like I see them in my mind.

I use Krylon for my crown paint. The Krylon Fusion in white stick to carbons great, and makes a good base coat for the pink (or whatever color) to show up good.

I just finished these for a friend. He can't stand pink but they are for his new wife and she likes it. I scanned a design from their wedding invitation and put it in the cresting.
Nocks are horn-reinforced self nocks and the feathers are thread wrapped for shooting off the hand.

Check out my new custom wraps. I think I'll go with one pink barred cock feather and two solid pink hen feathers (5" hi-back shield cuts).  What do you think?

Low light conditions...use a pink crown dip or wrap with Chartruese feathers. Around here, Surveyors use nothing but Pink or Lime Green tape. You can't miss them swaying in the wind.

I will say, under low light conditions, like spring bear hunting in Canada....I prefer a Chartruese crown dip with either all white feathers or all Chart feathers. Those last few moments of light, it's important to see that arrow hit.

Before I switched over to Pink, my arrows were crown dipped or full length dipped in a light Sky Blue with all white or Chart feathers. I've never seen Blue, Pink or Chart colored trees.

Howdy D. Key,

Those are Trueflight Pink and Pink Barred.  They were full length feathers that I cut down to 4" and burned to a shield shape.  I like the way they turned out.

3Rivers sells the solid Pink in 4" shield, but not the barred.  You could call them.  I'm sure somebody has them out there on the web.  Good luck.

I like to Cedar pink on my arrows.  The glow helps me Cedar trail in the dark.

You have the best looking arrows bar none.  Crazy talent.  And patience.  Love your work and I've been admiring them for some time.  Keep it up.

Try some white nocks on your girlfriend's arrows.  They would go well with the color combination.  And they provide good visibility.

Must have something to do with the color because I have never seen a pink nock stay on. Every one I had came off...once at full draw.

Scientifically it has been determinged that deer see pink least well along the white to black color spectrum they live in.
