Title: Randall made knives
Post by: thunder1 on December 10, 2011, 06:56:00 PM
I need some help  on deciding between a RMK  # 25 and # 27. I would like to hear from you and see pics of your knives. Now for the big one. Any recommendations on where to find them. I looked on the web but when I see price jumps of a few to several hundred dollars I thought I would ask why.

I see several show cases full at every Michigan gun show. The #27 is a skinner and would be my pick...Roy

I owned a Pathfinder with stag handle. Bought it new for $350 and sold it used for the same. A fine knife, but mine didn't impress me as a working knife for gritty use in tough hunting environments. I have owned a number of knives which were less attractive but more suited for hard use. Still...the Pathfinder or Bird/Fish/Small Game models (numbers escape me) would be my choice of Randall knives.

Five year wait on a new one from the factory would explain the price jumps.

As you can see, I prefer the Model 25-5 Trapper. Well balanced, fits the hand, and a little shorter blade than the #27. Thumb notch and top of hilt molded for thumb placement.

The 5 year wait explains why you pay more than you would from Randall. Not why 2 model # 25 set up the same way and no special event knife should be selling for 500.00  more than a knife already marked up 50%. That's why I was wondering where people got their knives from as well.

Thunder, call Randall and find a dealer in your area... Most of the Randall dealers will get your knife for you in a far shorter time then if you order it direct. My dealer is charging me catalog price and only about a 3-4 month wait. I am a fan of the Randall 11-5, however I would choose the 25-5 over the 27 IMHO. Hope this helps.... Tu Compadres, Sutty

Rick your the one. It's that picture of your knife that has me sleeping on the couch. Yep I got caught drooling over it.  Thank You. A good nights sleep with something to dream about. That is a good looking knife.

I've been known to lead a few folks astray.    :saywhat:

Randall is committed to their dealers. The dealer that orders one to two dozen knives every quarter  gets priority consideration over a single knife order from an individual.
