My daughter has always accompanied me on various hunts over the years but today she let know next year she will be more than just a tag along. A few weeks ago she went along with me checking trail cameras, anytime I'm out checking cameras I try and work in a little stump shooting too. Well she expressed some interest in my bow and even tried taking a few shots with it. I decided it would be best to fuel the fire while the spark of interest was still hot so I ordered her a bow a few days later, she only had 2 requests, it had to be pink and it couldn't be hard to pull back. Well the bow showed up last night and after getting it set up she shot a few hours in the backyard under the patio lights. Then today as soon as it warmed up she wanted to head out and do some shooting at the farm. I can't tell you how much fun I had watching my daughter launch arrow after arrow with her new bow. We shot for a few hours, I gave her some general safety rules and fought the urge to start teaching her proper form because I didn't want her to concentrate on any other then having fun with her new rig. I was the one that finally had to call it a day so that we could get home and get a few things done. On the way home all she wanted to talk about was hunting with me next year. She kept asking me what I was smiling about and I just said that today was a good day to be a dad. We are now heading up to my father-in-law's place so that he can see her shoot, and she reminded me grandpa has a lot of squirrels running around the back yard. Even if it turns out to just be a passing interest I'm going to get my little girl and her bow in the field with me every chance I get.

It doesn't get any better than that! You're a lucky Dad without a doubt. :clapper: :clapper: :clapper:
There is nothing these days - no huge trophy kill, no hunt in some exotic location, nothing, that gets me psyched as much as seeing people her age carrying on the tradition.
That's a great day for both of you!
 :clapper: A good day to be a Dad indeed. Congradulations to the both of you, you are in for some memorable times.
Good deal,nothing better,congrats.
There simply isn't a better hunting partner than a "homegrown" one. Lots of memories to be made that will last beyond your lifetime.

It's always nice to start a new hunting partner especially one of your children. Just make sure they fully understand the the picture of what happens when arrows are shot at live animals. I found out a little late that one of mine wasn't ready for the circle of life. Now she is only target and 3d with me
That is way cool!
