Title: Serving question
Post by: zootown2007 on December 10, 2011, 01:18:00 AM
Hello everyone,

New member here and a newbie string maker. My new materials arrived this afternoon and I furiously began turning out strings for all of my bows and several for friends and family as practice.

Everything turned out great, and I am quite pleased with the results. The problem that arose was when I went to serve the strings that I made for my friends and family out of state. Without having their bows in hand; I am at a loss at where to start the serving. Is there a rule of thumb that string makers out there use to decide where to start the center serving?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

what usually works well for me is 3" above to 4" below the string's center.  the 3" side is the top end of the string.
