I got home early from work today, and found a USPS box on my front porch....not unusual this time of year. When I saw the return address, Teresa Asbell, I knew I was going to be a happy guy. Inside was this high collared vest (sorry for the poor picture, all I had handy was my iPhone)I imediatley pulled it on and went back outside (remember when you were a kid and got new sneakers, and you went outside to run up and down the road? Same thing). This vest, with it's high collar, is WARM. I came in, and checked the Asbell website....nope, it wasn't on there. So I called Teresa. She told me that it's an insulating material called "Sherpa". She intends ths vest to be part of her insulation system, coupling it with the Wind Blocker vest. Teresa said it should be sized right to wear under a Wind Blocker, or you can just wear it on its own, under a wool pullover. I will be in the treestand tomorrow night, and I think this vest will be my first layer over my longjohns.
The collar is the best part. It sort of softly conforms to your head and neck, covering your ear, neck, nose and mouth. Pulled down lower, it just covers the neck. It conforms enough, that it won't get in the way of a bowstring.
I will test it out in the real world tomorrow (Teresa said Fred already loves his, yep, he got one first :D )and let you know how it goes.
Thanks Teresa, you are awesome!! :clapper:
p.s.....I suggested the name "Sherpa Insulating Vest"....if you guys have any ideas, Teresa says that it is unnamed as of now.
Will be waiting to hear your test report.
Looks like an "I got to have" item. What material is it made out of? I am alergic to wool.
Teresa said there is no wool in it. It appears to be some kind of nylon or polypropelene. Its very soft, kinda fluffy. Not sure exactly what it is...
I got mine too Roger, except mine isn't a high neck.
It was like putting on a heating pad set to warm.
Teresa's stuff is head and shoulders above a lot of others out there and at a great price too.
God bless,Mudd
Teresa mentioned that she sent you one Roy....the high collr is awesome. I'm a big baby with regards to a cold neck. Nothing drives me out of the woods quicker. This vest should be just the ticket....
Arrrg, Roger. You are a tease. When do they go on sale? We are cold over here LOL! By the way, I still wear the red plaid pull-over I bought from you a few years ago. My first Asbell garment and I love it!
Call Teresa and ask...I'm not sure if she has some made up or not.

The collar is pretty darned funcional
Roger..... what about the access hole for the, " Irish Whiskey ? " :biglaugh:
Roger, did you just get referred to as an access-hole? :saywhat: The vest looks really nice. Thanks for modeling it.

Ha! I've always been sort of an "access-hole" :bigsmyl:
Thant collar is awesome. Going to have to give her a call.
I thought with 3 pullovers a windblocker vest and a Knife I didn't "need" anything else from the Asbells. :scared:
Looks like a another quality product.
If I understood Teresa correctly the new Sherpa will come in at least a couple of choices in the neck line.
I can't say enough good things about mine.
In fact I love every piece of clothing that Teresa has made for me.
Teresa might have a surprise additional offering for 2012.... time will tell.
God bless,Mudd
PS: Thank you so much Teresa!!!!!!
Roger, that big collar makes it look like a womans cowl neck sweater. Hmmmm, cross dressing now??? I'm glad you're out on the sofa and not in the bunk room at camp! :p
With the cold, strong winds up here, I think I need one of those and a windblocker vest. It was pretty windy and cold yesterday afternoon at the farm, but I was suited up for a hunt from the ground anyway. I reached back into the truck to get my bow and I had one of those "oh sh.." moments. Well, I had a nice chat with mom and dad anyway and got a homecooked meal out of it. It was my first bow hunt after the gun season and I guess I didn't have my "mental checklist" tuned back to bow hunting yet.
Looking forward to hearing the report on the liner.
I like that thing a lot! The older I get, the less I enjoy cool breezes down my neck in extremely cold weather. I hope she lists this thing on their site soon---thanks for sharing.

Hey Ray....remember, what happens in ShrewHaven stays in ShrewHaven :D
I sat in a treestand tonight, in a crabapple thicket on the edge of a huge rolling field. Winds were pretty strong out of the Northwest. About 28 degrees, and fresh snow.
The Sherpa Vest was perfect. I wore Kromer, had the collar up, a wool sweater, the Sherpa vest, and an Asbell Pullover.I was plenty warm. I REALY like the collar. GREAT DESIGN Teresa!!
Roger, you look like Bazooka Joe with that collar rolled up! (Am I dating myself???)

!
You've been watching too many Las Vegas commercials Roger. :readit: :p
That sounds like a good clothing setup and I know Theresa's making some nice stuff (I like the longhunter shirt I got from Ron made by her). The winds have been pretty biting here of late and very stiff. I'll have to put on my x-mas list along with that Classic Hunter and her windblocker vest. :D
