Title: Asbell Wind blocker vest
Post by: Zradix on December 07, 2011, 02:22:00 PM
Ordered online Nov 29 at 12:30 AM

Received today in the mail..12/7 just in time for the weekend...yyeesss

The material seems/ acts like one layer.
I say SEEMS because it's dark sage on the outside and light sage on the inside.

I can't pull the inside away from the outside.
So unless there is some "sticky stuff" adhering the layers it's one.

It acts like one layer regardless.

Very hard to blow through.
the material has just a small hint of noise to it.
Very, very little.
Won't be heard, especially with an outerlayer over it.
Also, the fact that the arms aren't covered by it really helps keeping the noise away...that's where most noise comes from when you draw anyway.

I have NO worries about noise.
Just isn't as quiet as soft fleece...which the wind zips thru anyway.

It's a micro felt type texture...Wonder how it it work as a rest or side plate...lol?

I'm 6'2" about 223#.
Don't have a BIG belly.
You can see a pic in my profile.

I'm wearing this over 1 layer of XL lt wt UA type material, 1 Layer of XL Heavy UA type, 3 layers of XXLT Bass pro ECWCS Mil. fleece.

I ordered a XXL.
When I opened the box I thought " o oh..this is way waay too big"

NOPE! It's perfect.
You need to have it a bit big for ease of putting it on as there isn't a zipper.

The stitching all looks great.

I'm really happy with it.

Little windy today.
Put my ecws layers on and went out side.
I could feel the wind.

Put the Asbell Wind blocker on...WHAT A DIFFERENCE!!!!

Watch out DEC whitetails!
I'm coming for ya!

I received my wind blocker in the mail last Saturday. Wore it under my wool pullover during a north wind gusting to 25 with high temps of 32. Very nice. It will go with me every time I head to the woods and at others when I just want to stay warm.

It works very well. I often just carry mine and the pullover in and put them on when I get to where I'm going.

Best money I've spent this year! Doesn't pinch the fat around my arms or neck. Mine is big enough that I wear my hunter safety system underneath it. It helps quiet that scratchy thing too

I'm with Biggie on this one. Picked mine up from G. Fred at Denton Hill this year and have gotten alot of use out of it this season.

Very pleased to say the least.

I wore mine once last month during constant rain and my chest was the only part of me not soaked.  I'm going out tomorrow and looking forward to wear the vest & pullover since now cold here in Tx.  Money well spent!!!

I tested mine well last year and give it two thumbs up.  Over a wool sweater under the Asbell Mackinaw it's toasty - yet still allows some movement without getting all sweaty.

There's one under here somewhere.
