This post has nothing to do with traditional archery and everything to do with remembrance. On this day at 7:55am the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor and plunged America into the World War II. Let's remember and salute the men and women that fought to preserve our freedom. Truly, they are and some were "The Greatest Generation". During the war, my dad, Dan R. Long was a Gunners Mate on USS The Sullivans a Naval destroyer. He passed 20 years ago and we are still loosing nearly 1,300 WWII veterans each day. SALUTE!
Danny

Salute to all the vets. Both of my grandfathers are WWII veterans. Both are still alive. My Dad's father turned 94 in October and was a Captain in the US Army in the Pacific Theater. My Mom's father is 92 and was a Navy Lieutenant on the light cruiser USS Philadelphia in the Mediterranean. They truly are members of this country's Greatest Generation :notworthy:
I had an uncle on a destroyer at Pearl on 7 December, and my father in law was at Schofield Barracks on that fateful day. A salute to those heros of WW2.
Never Forget!! I salute all those that served before me, with me, after me and those that continue to serve.
A huge thanks to my great uncle Julian:

My Grandfather faught under Patton & he is still my biggest hero.
May all those who lost their lives to preserve our freedom never be forgotten.
What a sacrafice they gave us. Watching WWII footage on the history is just amazing. To watch what happened on D Day is unbelievable. Thanks
My father piloted a B24 on 45 combat missions over the Pacific but I still believe there are other places for this post. If we decide to ignore Terry's instructions concerning proper topics even for one as noble as this, we are not far from reading about compounds, blackpoder arms, hunting dogs, religion, politics, divorces, etc.., etc.. just like the other prominent traditional archery website.
December 7, 1941 and September 11, 2001 are two days of infamy.
Both remind us of two unprovoked attacks against us and our way of life.
Please remember those whose lives were lost on this day in Pearl Harbor all those years ago.
God bless,Mudd
So to keep this archery related, here is the knife my other great uncle George carried aboard the USS Hornet and participated in the battle of Midway and the Doolelittle raid.
She was torpedoed and sunk and my uncle was believed to be one of the last aboard to abondon ship as he served at the purser guarding the safe.
When he did leave his ship he carried this trusty western boot knife that was popular with soldiers. I carry it on the occasional bowhunt.

Never Forget!! Salute and Thank you to all who have, are or will serve!
As it has been said several times, we must never foget those who have fallen for our country.
I've served with and have lost several friends and fellow soldiers that paid the ultimate price.
NEVER FORGET!!
