Early this morning we had rain.. A norther started pushing through last night and brought the showers and gusty, cold winds. Not that cold to you guys up north but to me, whew ---.
This afternoon the rains stopped and there was some clearing but it was still cold and windy. I had some time though and decided to spend the last hour or so in the woods.
After a brisk walk I came to an oak tree that I had a stand in. The tree is on the edge of a slough and a game trail follows the slough within 10 yards of this oak. About 15 or 20 minutes before dark a few shoats came feeding by. I was looking pretty hard at one that seemed to be fat.
As this particular shoat passed me I drew and released an arrow. I watched the nock disappear in the short ribs about 1/2 way up, right where I was looking. I had an Abowyer Javelina on the end of a
Beman 500. I knew the blood trail would be short.
I give some pigs away to friends and keep the rest, this one's a keeper..
I'm thinking that Vince rubbed some kind of stink on this Sparrowhawk; pigs just can't seem to stay away from it !

That's what I was thinking! Nice shot too! I've never had a chance to hunt hogs, but I'd sure like to give it a try.
