I have a friend that shoot around #40 AND HE WAS WONDER how they will penitrate He is wanting to shoot the 125gr
I used a 45# SR Swift with a 125 gr Elite on a carbon a few years ago. I got two holes on a spike buck whitetail. The shot was about 18 or so yards.
Of course, things change from situation to situation and each shot situation can open up a lot of variables.
Use a two blade
I think on small bodied whitetails you would be ok. There is definately an advantage though even on the smaller big game with 40# recurve. I would recommend using a 2 blade with a high MA. I don't think brand matters as almost all bh's out there now are great heads.
The Woodsman Elite is a small head, a lot smaller than the original Woodsmans, you wont have a problem with it at 40#
Shot the 175gr VPA this year 43# recurve total 596gr arrow two holes and lots of blood!!
only if you want blood all over, this was from @ 35 lb recurve...
